Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
https://i.ibb.co/BHfrJGTS/P5240541.jpg Had a good blether with Donnie and Richie at the start of the Corrieairyack and accepted their dram as I'd nothing to lose. In the event the whisky went down like nectar and relived some of the pain. :-bd I met them on my way down as they were setting up. Decl...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
Just back at the Folks after doing most of The Badger Divide but stopping at Callandar. Great few days, despite the weather having a good effort at making it difficult. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AP1GczMCo4t4qpBCawTgTIS3Ae5rtrW9WyhRusluV_QkNM3toQDR-U0d7GmBHIqVk13JCfRkKpRT8fw6VB_RmiR3E8f5YO...

Good luck, Boab. Weather's been very sub-standard up there.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
On the Corrieyairack Pass, it's raining but I'm in the tent and all is good. TBH, I might not finish The Badger Divide cos I'm that slow, but ATM I don't really care. A good time will be had. I might take that back tomorrow after trudging/riding through the rain. Did you know it's raining. Ask Phil,...

Good luck, mate. I'm hoping to camp around Blackburn Bothy tomorrow evening, so I might see some of the riders around there? Both sure how long It'll take People to get there, but I might pass a few at some point on the Corrieyairack Pass. I'm a day early, aren't I? Doesn't kick of til tomorrow? Ma...

BBC is more optimistic, I think, Phil. Still not great. I've been keeping an eye on it as I'm up that way tomorrow. Good luck, mate. Cheers, Phil. Hadn't heard of the South Loch Ness Trail, I've checked it out and might be the option. I've ridden the NCN 7 before and easy might just be welcome at that point.

Back again. So, last few days before I head back home, with my start the 7.30am train to Inverness from Stirling on Friday. These are my planned stages... Day 1 - Inverness to Blackburn Bothy Day 2 - Blackburn Bothy to Loch Ossian/Corrour Day 3 - Loch Ossian/Corrour to Kenknock/Glenlochay Day 4 - Ke...

Re: Front Bar Cradle
Back after a few weeks deliberating I'm pretty sure I'll go for Salsa cradle but just not yet. Had a play about with the Acepac harness at the weekend and a fix was to adjust the strap around the stem and buy a XL Voile strap to keep it tight to the bar and stop it drooping. We'll see how it goes fo...

Swapped out tyres for Cinturato M to be ready for upcoming trip. Set up tubeless, went straight on and have stayed up. Easiest it's ever been.

Re: Todays ride
It was a beautiful warm day, so took the opportunity to head out for some acclimatisation training for my upcoming Scotland trip. 30 miles around trails and back roads with a mammoth 771ft of climbing. That should do it.

Re: Stoves and dry ground…
I've only got one of the BB meths stoves and obviously that sits lower than these gas stoves. Last trip, I also waited till I'd moved away to a bit of gravel to avoid any issues. Plan is to add a small base to the bottom of the stove to make is more stable and reduce how close flames are to surround...

Re: Norfolk Coastal Overnighter
Looks like a lovely trip (apart from the massive queue for chips), ta for sharing! They weren't worth the wait TBH. This looks like a lovely trip. Would it be possible to send me the route, it's not too far from me and would make a good start to getting ready for a summer trip tackling the Trans Ca...

Cheers, Phil. So like Charlie's option, I'm struggling to see how this works in reality. Is this sitting on the underside of the bar roll harness? Strapped around the bar roll and this to keep it stable? Sorry, being dim.

Re: Advice needed.
I'm sure that lock would be ok. Heavy though, no doubt. As others have said, get out and about cycling and raising fitness levels, especially with a loaded bike. I'd go as light as possible. You can always buy over there. No idea on insurance, especially how it'd work over there. I travelled Bangkok...

Re: What are you listening to now?
Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee..man, what an LP! A big sixties, heart-tugging, surfing guitar vibe but with so much other influences. Vinyl is a triple LP and so much to listen to. Cindy is guy who when he plays live, does so in drag. Listening to his songs just seems to give an extra dimension to the ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
April's BAM completed. A bit more interesting than my others to date. North Norfolk coast was the destination. Tagged an extra day on the the bank holiday weekend for this. Weather was beautiful. Pretty much a perfect ride and overnight camp. This'll be an annual trip, I think. Dedicated post gives ...

Norfolk Coastal Overnighter
This was a route I'd planned for a while, even as long as a few years ago I posted re. This area and was directed near here by someone the board. Its a great location. Parts will be recognisable to people doing the Rebellion Way. For me, this acted as an nice overnighter, April's BAM and a good few ...

Thanks, everyone. Something like this might work to stop the bag sagging. Front Bar Cradle
Just came back from an overnighter yesterday. Rode on my gravel bike using my Acepac front harness and bag. This stores my mat, tent and some sleeping kit. I'm finding while it works well on my hardtail, it sags too much on my gravel bike and rubs the tyre. I'm having to regularly pull it up and it'...
