Alpkit have a good one of these 1kg in weight and very comfortable in my opinion. Mines about 3 years old and gets regular use All I've replaced are the rubber feet as they split after use on rough ground.
Cracking weekend and thanks to Stu and Dee for the organising! Cracking weekend's riding with Mr Climber and the gang again. Still my fave event of the year.
Hi NeilA I have a Tarpstar1 with footprint for sale. Used on 2 trips the last for a tip in Scotland. I am too tall for the tent, head and feet touch the fabric at both ends and get wet if there is any damp or condensation. Also its bloody irritating, I'm 6'1" for reference. In excellent nick ap...
Following this thread with interest as I'd like a new tent at some point. I almost exclusively use a flat tarp but that only really works "in the wild" so to speak and is of limited use on a campsite. I haven't seen any reference to MSR tents but just about every long distance toure...

...and delivered a Redshift Shockstop seat post for my hard tail. Looks really nice quality, get it fitted and tested at the weekend! Oooh interested ... can you do a review? I've considered buying one but £200+ for a seatpost make me twitchy .... did you go for the just the sprung one or sp...

It's nothing compared to the storied shared here, but i cycled to work today and forgot my towel.
Obviously I realised that AFTER having showered.
A"Hoopy Frood" should always know where his towel is!!
If it isn't on Strava it didn't happen. Get to the pub after our weekly night ride and for the first 10 -15 minutes there's no conversation while everyone except me faffs about muttering and swearing at Garmins and phones, syncing to Strava. Strava holds no interest for me at all. :| Followed...
Up on the North Hertford Cambridgeshire border yesterday and watched 2 Red Kites chasing each other about the sky. Magic! Even had 2 claw grabs where they plummeted in a spiral toward the ground, releasing just above the trees and zooming away Best snack break in months!!
Completely unrelated. Sent to me by a good friend and thought of the ITI. Screenshot_20250224_185031.jpg Nome is at the sea. Polarbears don't hibernate. I mean it's dangerous! Russia is close. I mean AK it once belonged to Russia ('till second half of the 19th century). They may want to get it back...
I get the below for our field engineers who work on professional laundry and catering equipment. Not cheap and not something you'd carry on the bike but a great catch most jobs little set. We get a company discount so not sure what it would cost outside of that. Probably around £40.00 I'm guessing? ...

Really enjoying some Tristan Gooley, specifically The Natural Explorer. So much more to see and enjoy in our woodlands if you know what to look for! Read Ray Mears British Woodland a couple of months back and really enjoyed it too!

My alpkit bike was perfect from new and never had an issue with it.
Same, I've had 3 now and all arrived in perfect condition and never had any problems other than wear and tear Transmitter is 8 years old in April and Camino is 5 years old.
Ah, what luxury it is to indulge in the finest al fresco accommodation amidst the wild charms of the New Forest! Arriving in style, I dismounted my noble iron horse—a fully-laden bike-packing bike, adorned with panniers and a hint of adventure dust. Far more elegant than any chauffeured car, it all...
Been an interesting and tough year. :???: 1) Best trip was to Nepal to "trek" the Manaslu Circuit. Absolutely brilliant experience and has really whetted the appetite for eat, travel, sleep, repeat. The simplicity of having nothing else to do but that over days is just brilliantly relaxing...
I've got a Topeak seat post one I've had for a couple of years now which has given good service. Was specific for 650B and was fine for my 2.8" rear tyre. Model XC1-1 1-650 but can't see that they still do that one sadly

This prose introduced new and disturbing thoughts into my head

Interesting discussion! :-bd I'm an avid reader and also a hobby photographer and feel both well written words and beautiful pictures have their place. Stuarts piece was very descriptive and a good read. The mental video (in black and white due to the weather  ) running in my head was started...
