Re: Bob's First Bivvy

Nothing to add from whats been said except you've got it covered but get out and try it. You'll refine the kit each trip and soon figure what works and what doesnt.
Enjoy and embrace :)

Malta routes / Trips

Hi folks,

Me and the better half are thinking about heading to Malta with the bikes for a trip over Christmas. Has anyone been to Malta and done any cycling ?

Thanks

Re: Groupsets

Thanks for all the comments folks. Spent a lot of time thinking about this and speaking to friends also. Most advice is going the 1x route for ease of running, setup and maintenance. Speaking to guys at Cotic who tell me they spec GRX with 11-46 on the rear I was thinking that this with a 42 on the ...

Re: Groupsets

So given cost of GRX groupset is it possible to mix GRX shifters with 105 chainring and cassettes?

Groupsets

Hi All. I’m after more help and advice... I’ve ordered a Cotic escapade but as a rolling chassis. I need to decide on a groupset now and gearing. First question is 1x or 2x??? I’m pretty certain I’m going for GRX as have tried them and was hugely impressed with the shifters and hoods. I’m keeping th...

Re: Cooking stove recommendations

I use a MSR jetboil type setup as my goto for backpacking. For lighter weight and size I go with an Alpkit Ti mug and Kraku burner. Super light and fits a decent gas bottle inside the mug. You could opt for the smaller gas bottle to.

Re: Cotic Escapde thoughts? Sonder Camino ?

I was originally going to go for frame, forks and wheels from Cotic and take the Hope 20Five wheelset option. Good choice on the wheels or do folk have better options at similar cost?

Re: Cotic Escapde thoughts?

Thanks for all the feedback folks. Popped down to Calver today and tried a small Escapde. Agree with the bar comments. The ones fitted were'nt for me at all. Also running on Sora grouspet and brakes. Apart from that though, it felt good. Slightly stretched I think but would need to put some differen...

Cotic Escapde thoughts? Sonder Camino ?

Hi all. Currently run a 26" Cotic Soul for fun, Salsa Fargo for journeys and bike packing but shes heavy. Was looking for something of an all rounder that would do a weekend trip, but equally be good for a casual spin out. I know the Fargo will do this but the weight irks me for a quick spin out. Be...

Handlebar bag options

Hi again all. Thought I'd post this a separate thread to the flats vs drops question now I'm happier with the woodchippers. So what are people using for handlebar bags/ harness with drops? I read good things about Revelate and Wildcat but wandering what else is around ? Looking for a good setup on a...

Re: Flats or Drops on a Fargo ?

Thanks again to all for the info. Have been fiddling and tinkering with bar and shifter position, plus caliper adjustment and it seems to be much better now. Still a few tweaks to do but much happier with them and rode some rather slippy mud tracks last weekend which actually went ok. After swapping...

Re: Flats or Drops on a Fargo ?

Thanks for all the info folks. Really helpful and useful. I'll be taking off the tape at the weekend and trying some different positions and angles as suggested. I've also picked up some On One Midge bars to try (they arent expensive). Also found this article on Salsa site regards setting up bars. h...

Flats or Drops on a Fargo ?

Howdy all and thanks Stuart for the add to the group. I've got a 2018 Salsa Fargo (med) GX that I love and have done some trips with her since getting her last year. Biggest trip to date was Paris which went well. My question is regarding the bars. It has woodchippers on it at the moment and these w...
