Re: Audax. anyone ride em ?

Guessing that would mean buying a proper gravelly kinda bike tho for a little off-road  I managed to squeeze some 35mm G-one Speeds in my touring/audax bike. Worked well enough and offered a bit of added comfort. Others were riding 25mm road tyres but I'd imagine it took the enjoyment away f...

Re: Audax. anyone ride em ?

Dean's 'Steele Roads and Woolly Hills' 400km is pretty good. Mostly road but some decent off-road bits including Cam High Road. Bristol Glasgow Bristol (1600km) also includes some good off-road - Cam High Road, Salter Fell, Kielder, Galloway forest, Rooley moor etc. but still predominantly (minor) r...

Sounds like a medium should be fine then, without a duffle coat underneath of cause

Thanks for your input, appreciated :-bd

Re: New BB jerseys - pre-order one now.

If you were usually a medium in normal cycling kit (Endura/altura/galibier etc. - not weird Italian stuff), would it be fair to say a medium in these would be comparable? Fwiw I'd usually be a small in outdoor gear - Rab/mountain equipment etc..

Good stuff! Did you manage to get a beer/pie and peas last night? I rode the long route in one hit but it was all locked up when I arrived back. I enjoy them. The calendar events always have a great atmosphere, a million miles away from sportives etc. and offer great value.

Probably my favourite type of riding if I'm honest.

Re: Packable v Heavyweight Waterproofs

I keep looking online for Out Dry jackets since they receive much praise on here. I have absolutely no idea how the model range is named and how to identify what's what

'Titanium' seems to pop up a fair bit but searching for that term throws up loads of different jackets.

Great weekend! Cheers Rich :-bd Managed to get off early Saturday morning and catch the first ferry across Windermere at 6:50am. Re: Kit lust.

The only thing I'd really like is a jacket that's actually properly, reliably waterproof and breathable, and will stay that way forever (or at least for many years). I've bought a fair number of the 'best' jackets and found them all a bit 'meh' after the first few outings

Re: What does / would your 'ultimate' shelter look like?

I quite like cricket pavilions. Toilet blocks feel a bit claustrophobic and bus shelters are often OK for an hour but there's more chance of being disturbed. I'm yet to try a church entrance but they look reasonably inviting

Saturday night - August BaM 8/12 My future wife doesn't really cycle much, but we do camp/bivvy (and occasionally race mountain marathons) together. Re: Removing tyre advice

Not much help, but I recall having a lot of trouble with Hunt 4 season rims and WTB tyres a few years ago. They were the last set of WTB tyres I used and hadn't encountered a problem since, until fitting my usual tyres onto a new set of WTB rims a few weeks ago! Perhaps its a WTB thing :???:

I like the Bombolini but found the Cannoli a bit overkill for my riding, quite heavy and draggy. A bombolini front and 2.6 mecal rear has been my choice for a couple of years. Great combo :-bd
