Re: Changin a rockshox fork from 120mm to 100mm

I'm fairly sure the 29er Pike can't go smaller than 120mm (i have two of them and I've changed the travel a few times).

But I'm probably incorrect!

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Located wintertime Stanton Sherpa from back of shed and inserted following parts from summertime Spesh Camber;

Pikes
Brake mounts
Wheels
Cassette
Dropper post
Saddle
Pedals
Chain

Things left to fettle:

Tyres
Brakes
Dropper post
Levers
Mech

Then bring on the muddy funsters!

I chucked a slight riser stem on but kept the length the same (60mm).

Free: SPIUK Nervio mtb spd shoes 9.5

Bought these a long time back because they look just like trainers. Problem is they're a size too small. Free to a good pair of feet. Loads of life in them. To be honest I think they're indestructible. I'm based in Farnham and Fordingbridge if you can pick the up. Alternatively I can try to work out...

Re: Hot and bothered

I seem to have regularly undertaken big rides on stoopid hot days (London to Brighton x 2, L2B Off-road, numerous South Downs Way, Pass'Portes... all over 30c). I seem to cope OK, but i get a bit slower. The only time I really suffered was on the SDW one year and my water/energy drink/electrolyte mi...

[ Loving the name! I’ve called mine several names, some of which Sweary Dave would be proud of! I think I’ve settled on Big Orange. Can’t quite imagine what that wheel set up looks like but sounds interested! I’m considering trying out 29ers, but having to much fun on the B+. If you ever want to se...

Re: Calling all Pinnacle Ramin 3+ owners

Yes I've got one nicknamed the Tangerine Tractor. I've done a lot of miles on it. Current guise is 29+ up front and 27.5+ out back. Sort of a semi-fat mullet. I love the fact i can run it singlespeed without a tensioner. I nearly sold it a while back after entering a 'race' in December and strugglin...

I use these

They can be bent a bit too to follow the curve of the down tube.

Re: What suss fork for a Ramin 3+

I've stuck a RS Recon 100mm on mine before. It won't fit a 3" tyre but it worked OK with a fatter 29er wheel. I've changed my lower cup so it'll take a tapered steerer.

Mines a large and needs a 190mm+ steerer.

I've got a couple of pairs of these: https://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-a530-spd-single-sided-touring-pedals/ I could be persuaded to sell a pair if you want :-) I find them pretty good. The set that is in use is on my do anything, go anywhere semi fat 27.5/29er+ singlespeed rigid. Which doubles as th...

Dunno about the Signal but.... I've done bike parks and bike packing on my Stanton Sherpa and that comes in Ti flavour. Honestly the best bike I've ever owned.

Re: Suggest a drop bar MTB frame?

Cheers for that. Couple of questions... Not sure on sizing? I'm just shy of 6ft, normally 54cm road bike. I suspect large will be too large. I see its 1x, assume being CF it would have to stay 1x? I.E. can't just clamp a front derailleur on? Kevin I'm just over 6' and it was slightly too short for ...

Any Boners riding this year? I'll be there for my 4th installment.

Say hi if you see me. Most likely on a grey rigid Stanton Sherpa this year. My mate will be on a Fargo.

Looking forward to some goat stew...

Re: Bladder in frame bag

Yes i use one in a half frame bag. It's and osprey one that has a magnet near the mouthpiece that sticks to the handlebar.

It's not super convenient as the tube is a bit short and i have to stop looking ahead to drink, but it's more fun than 2.5 litres on my back.

29er frames (carbon and alu) Large

Selling a chinese carbon Flyxii 202 frame in large. Used with some scuffs but otherwise all good. Comes with headset, crown race, stem cap, and seat clamp. It's a BSA threaded bottom bracket. Internal cable routes are sheathed so very easy to build up. I've left the rear brake in in case the buyer w...

Re: One bike only?

I've got mates that adhere to a one bike rule but invariably it's a mid travel full suss that struggles on the xc stuff and isn't quite up to the rougher downhill trails. Seems like a bug compromise to me. I've probably got one too many: Big travel FS Short travel FS Hardtail 29er (currently ridgid ...
