I used the 2.25” variant of these for last years dales divide,
Better than you’d think in the mud and roll good on the road, wish they did a 2.8”-3” version!

Re: Anyone seen a nice SS frame lately?
Aah I’d missed the need for flat bars Yeah the flat mate would do it, have a look at the geo chart, it is definitely off road orientated. Smokestone Mr Harry has what you seek. https://www.smokestonebikes.co.uk/mr-harry Ive now decided I'm specifically looking for a ti frame. Plusses and minuses asi...

Re: Best trail / multitool of all time?
The brooks one with a built in knife is up there for me, mainly because they chose to make the tools within out of something harder than the cheese most multi tools are made of. The knife has freed a couple of properly tangled up sheep over the years too  https://www.bike-components.de/en/Broo...

Keeping your phone in a base layer pocket should keep it close to 37degrees.
Or are you using said phone in place of a bike gps device?

Re: 9 speed MTB gearing questions
I ran 11-36 and 11-40 sunrace on a 1x9 commuter for year or so using a long cage XT mech. Worked but the 40 didn’t shift as well as I’d hoped.
Good simple budget options though

Re: Black Friday deals
How do the colombia outdry jackets size up? Are they true to size? They are massive! I ordered a medium thinking it would be snug when they are £52 a couple of months back, I’m a large usually but the medium out dry is big enough to get my large mountain equipment helium jacket under it... which is...

Re: Whats a 'comfy' singleSpeed gearing for hilly roadie stuff?
My 1958 singlespeed roadie currently runs 46:16 which is great for round here, can just about get it up frocester hill which is the closest significant climb, (10-12%), was easier when I was running 44:16 but the cadence on the flat was higher than I prefer. I’ve done a century ride this year on 46:...

Re: Kinesis tripster v3 ti or an alternative?
Probably a bit biased, but for me, for bikepacking - comfort is king. I’m currently running a titanium Smokestone Mr Harry with 29x2.6” tyres and mud clearance for British mud. I’m In the process of building up some road wheels for it soon with the view of getting shot of my road bike. Ticks all the...

Re: 26 X 4.5 Fat Bike Tyres Wanted
It’s worth noting that tyre width on fatbikes depends massively on rim width as there’s so much sidewall. I too had an old oof some 5 years ago and doubt much more than 4” would go on the rear. Not all 4” + tyres are created equal either, the maxxis minions 4.8 as one example are more like 4.2” You’...

Micro shift make a bar end sram mtb shifter for eagle, used one for a bit, that’s probably the cheapest way to build a drop bar 12s
I’m on drop bar 11 speed with a 10-50 garbaruk cassette - zero benefit in 12 speed for me

Re: Wtd: ultralight stem
The very lightest kcnc ones are called sc Wing and are made of scandium. As is the one I have.
It’s only 60mm though but does weigh 81g on my scales, you’ll be pushed to find an 80-100mm one sub90g.
Having looked, I haven’t got anything longer that’s anywhere near the 100g mark
