Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
I'm sat in the woods, with a can of walnut whip imperial stout, a good pork pie, and a well pitched tarp (even if I do say so myself).
Midgies are out, but I have Smidge, and some little bat friends swooping about.

Re: Missing the point?
If an inexperienced punter gets to equate 'adventure' with an enterprise that carries no risk they might find they are not then properly prepared when they sign up for an adventure which actually is an adventure and end up getting into difficulties. Mmm, I was thinking more the super-experienced fo...

Re: Technical question
It points to them keeping the head tube the same length. They may or may not have adjusted the rest of the geometry to compensate. If a-c has gone up by 10mm, and stack height has done the same, that would suggest the BB has stayed the same height above the floor, and they've adjusted the rest of th...

Re: Missing the point?
Something that's probably applicable to the other recent thread on Adventure™, but I recently attended one of the "Reframing Mountain Biking" events. A common theme in the discussions (and also to some extent on here) is that the MTB portrayed in the media (especially advertising) is gener...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
No giant bonfire, but a nice Beltane bivvy. It started with helping out another cyclist with a jammed chain, then a sunny(!) ride out, a good natter (and dram) with @edaleskyline, and a mild and dry night. The morning dawned far too early, mainly due to my bovine neighbours, who thought 4.30am was a...

Best wishes for the future V. Cheery stuff here: It's 9 years since Bear Cub no.1 first rode a pedal bike, and I've got my first guiding gig of the season this afternoon. Hoping that my battered and failing body* makes it through! I do have an ample supply of jelly beans, so should be fine. *Tennis ...

Re: If you could recommend 1 gravel route - what would it be?
Badger Divide is good. Down the Corrieyairack Pass heading N>S is a bit rocky, but I don't remember there being much HAB. Headwinds were what knackered me the most.
