Re: HT Sweepstake - your riders are.
My guy is 26, lives in the Highlands and rides bikes for a living. Go Huw Oliver :-bd Are you in here too Huw? Huws a thoroughly experienced bike tourer so you've backed a potential winner. He did it last year in truly horrible weather so is looking to go round much quicker this year Cheers Phil C ...

Paisley Freight are good for sending bikes. I have used them a lot in the past for other things. £24 for a full bike by the looks of it.

Edited to add - they are nationwide and not just in Scotland...

I enjoyed that. It is interesting to see that Tomintoul claims the title of Scotland's highest village, when I have always known this to be Wanlockhead.... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=highest+village+in+scotland&rlz=1C1CHBF_en-GBGB745GB745&oq=highest+village+in+scotland&aqs=chrome....

I just neglect everything else and go riding apart from the boy that is, he just comes with me and that solves that.

ps - Do you know that you can make a bothy condition report on the MBA's website? It may be that the maintenance officer doesn't know about the broken window and door hinge if they haven't visited for a while.

So glad I waited until I was at the "big" screen before reading this thread. That's superb all round - good effort by the lad, lovely photos and loads of interest. FYI: https://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/englandnorthumberlandkielderkielderkieldercastleforestparkcentrecrossbordertrail I ...

Re: Cross-border raid to Kielder and Flittingford bothy
 thanks Those look good. I have my eye on Roughside for sure. Flittingford also had one of those police signs up and the police had also visited the bothy and stamped the book four times in the brief period that it has been open. There wasn't any indication that this was warranted at all (and...

Re: Cross-border raid to Kielder and Flittingford bothy
If you ever go that way again the old railway line that heads East after Ricarton Junction is rideable to Kielder, the cutting after crossing the B6357 can be wet and boggy but it's not stopped me before. Just before crossing the road you will come across an old steam train parked on the line at th...

Cross-border raid to Kielder and Flittingford bothy
After reading on here (thanks Ray Young) that a new bothy had opened near Kielder, I sat down with the maps to try to figure out a route to it from our home-town of Hawick. I was very excited to find that by stringing five off-road paths together we could travel almost all the way to it. The idea of...
