Bothys ..how much are they used?
Dumb Q. Not used a Bothy before and I'm planning a winter trip hoping to stay at Nant Rhys ..... what's the likelihood of finding it empty vs full of chavs smoking dope? Are Chavs a rarity or a common feature? Would have tent with me anyway but would be planning on using the bothy. I appreciate some...

Re: Rear mech blocking up
I run the Godiva Trailriders who had the honour of running the Singlespeed UK Championships last month..... I usually ride a SS Jones or a SS Pompino for commuting.... I'm also nearly 50 and a fat bastard. SS isn't perfect.... we did a ride in the Peak District about 4 years ago in heavy snow and -1...

Re: Rear mech blocking up
 Get the bike on a stand and stick it in the grannyest gear and check the chainline. Mine actually brushes the Chronicle. I've put a couple of spacers on the drive side of the BB to move it out a bit but I can't get it to clear the tyre. I'm running 2 x 10 which must compound the problem. I ca...

Re: Rear mech blocking up
What bike?
On my Rooster in full 29+ guise with 3" Chronicles fitted, when the chain is in the lowest easy gear the chain acts like a scraper on the tyre, cleaning off the mud and carrying it straight into the derailleur .... I suffer with clogged mechs too :(

Re: Stans Hugos 52mm
They're rims :/ Good ones. Easiest tubeless setup ever with Chronicles. Wasn't sure about the Chronicles to begin with, in winter midlands mud , but they've behaved really well, and are wearing well. As for the rims? They hold they tyre in place and they've stayed true. I like them.

As a matter of interest who is Samuel? Not Samuel Becuwe? Yes, him. Small world ! Sam is a friend of mine :) Lovely, if somewhat unhinged, fella :) Great rider. Makes me laugh when he lights a cigarette yet is one of the best long distance riders I know ! Saw him 2 weeks ago in Slovenia for the Sin...

Samuel is a strong rider, saw him on Ventoux in July during the TCR.
Not Samuel Becuwe?
Sorry for the dumb question....

Stuart, a small group of us are planning on riding in from Newtown .... If you get chance can you cast an eye over this route --> https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14106246 and see if it's reasonable? Are we missing any excellent trails out of ignorance?

Re: Bearstock the party - what do you want?
Looking for a starting point/route about four or five hours ride from BBHQ, nothing too hilly mind. We are coming down from Yorkshire so preferably North and East. Llanfair Caereinion or Llanerfyl could be worth a look Bob. Newtown could also be an option ... and probably the least hilly option. My...

It's my lads 18th Birthday on the 3rd And what better place for him to celebrate it? :-bd . Turns out this may be a possibility  He hasn't got any real plans and so we may be able to join you all.... We'd probably park up in Newtown then head over ..... https://ridewithgps.com/routes/13312064...

Re: Off to Radnorshire tomorrow
We started in Presteigne and picked up Offas Dyke to Kington ...... pretty much unrideable .... lesson learned.... took Offas Dyke over Hergest Ridge  I've ridden Hergest a few times having done 3x Rough Rides ... but having only 1x10 and a heavily laden bike made it hard going  then up...

Jones all the way. I'd have them on every bike I have if I could afford them .... got them on the Jones and the Stooge. Prefer the Loops as I can mount a light upside down right at the front of the bike.
