Bearstock Routes

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Anyone coming to Bearstock or considering it, may be interested to know that a number of routes are available to get you here should you decide you can't be arsed to devise your own. They vary in length but all start from what I would consider convenient points ... you can download them from the link below.

http://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/bearstock/

Also, anyone considering coming who has yet to buy a ticket should be aware, the last date for tickets will be June 20th.

Saw this on the email, nice work Stuart

(Although I'll probably be starting from the North with a loop East and South, so that the trip home the next day is easier)

My masterplan. Ride from home to Glyn Ceiriog, some 16 miles. Some of you will recognise this. Bear ones 200 went through there last year. Well, from there it seems natural to use the second half of the route. I'm going to cheat a bit and cross over to the first half (in reverse) to Llanbrynmair, then on south to BB towers. 62 miles and 9000ft climbs.

This is too far for me for one day, so I'll bivvy somewhere with about a mornings ride left.

Can't wait :-bd

I'm torn about this at the minute. Its either bearstock or borders 350 group start. Not sure which to do. If going bearstock I will ride from home (south east manchester) to Stu's then ride back sunday. Probably on the cross bike.

Or spend 3-4 days riding the borders 350.

What to do?????

Stuart, a small group of us are planning on riding in from Newtown .... If you get chance can you cast an eye over this route --> https://ridewithgps.com/routes/14106246 and see if it's reasonable? Are we missing any excellent trails out of ignorance?

Cheers

Doesn't look bad and is probably as near a direct route as possible without resorting to any main roads ... oh and you'll know you're climbing out of Trefeg'

So far, yes. It's Mitch's 18th on the Sunday and when asked what he fancied doing for his birthday, he replied "Go to Bearstock" :-bd
Mikeyay, Minty and Gary are likely to sign up shortly too.

What route are you taking in Tone?

Mike, what is the tcw to Stu distance? I would be interested in tagging along but need to be home for Sunday (late)

Dave, Mike's in Italy but without working it out properly, I'd estimate around 80 miles.

If that's too far then one option might be to meet up in Rhayader. They'll pass right through on Fri and it could also mean a quick(ish) ride back for you on Sun if you wanted.

Undecided on where we'll ride from. Weather dependent I guess. So from here ~130 miles, or maybe just the road option from Wrexham.

Tony, I've got a route that goes from Prestatyn to Clun via Llangollen that crosses the Kerry Ridgeway ... pick up the Ridgeway and head west :-bd
