ITT Protocol

I`ve downloaded a route which I intend to ride as an ITT, for my completion (hopefully ) time to be registered is it the done thing to inform the route/ course planner before attempting it? I don`t have a smart phone so if I complete, I can only give a photo of my gps screen and my sworn truth. The ...

Nicky Hayden RIP.

I know its not strictly bikepacking related but ex Moto GP and world superbike racer Nicky was killed whilst cycling in Italy, just another warning to be careful out there!

Re: Nausea and appetite loss

I too regularly feel nausea after long days in the saddle, the trick I use is to eat fruit when nothing else appeals that tends to kick start my appetite.

There's a few flying but not yet biting.
I remember the midge forecast for Bearstock was similar to that, I got home with nearly a million bites to show for it!

Re: Rohloff advice please.

Hi ton, I`ve just built up a Singular Swift with a Rohloff speed hub, it is taking a little time to get used to shifting gears, I feel that I have "plan" a shift when climbing, too much (read, any) pressure on the pedals results in the gear not being able to change, I`m sure with more prac...

Re: R.I.P. Mike Hall

Do you know anyone who has played football with Pele?
I`ve ridden (briefly!!) with Mike Hall.
That says it all.
I am going for a ride tomorrow, when the hills get steep and the showers come I will smile and be grateful to be on my bike loving what I`m doing and think of Mike.

Gorilla clips?

Hi, does anyone have any experience of using Gorilla clips please? I`m sure Stu wouldn`t sell them if they were not up to the task, but I was wondering how they held on squareish flatish carbon forks. It is just the clips (for forks without braze ons) that i`m thinking about, not the Gorilla cages t...

I thought the same, useful looking bags but plenty steep!
I`ve cobbled together something similar with dry bags and straps, didn`t cost 250 quid either.

Re: jones bars grips things

Standard length ESI grips are fine 660 width Jones bars, they are therefore totally ok on the 710 width bars but "look" abit short, there`s plenty of bar length to cover.
FWIW, I have Ergon GS1 grips and fully taped everywhere else on my 660 bars.

Gravel dash advice please

Hi, if anyone has ridden the 100 mile in a day route of the Dorset Gravel Dash, which style bike do you think it suits best? Road , Cyclo cross or proper mountain bike?
I am sure there are plenty of reasons for riding any of the above.
Any advice gratefully received.
Cheers.

No problem! I carried a standard size quite heavy 2 man tent to Bearstock and barely noticed it was attached to the bars.

I`ve got a set of Stans Arch ex 29ers on my single speed and am very pleased with them apart from the afore mentioned creak, would anyone have any tips on ridding it from my life? I would be extremely grateful, I have tried oiling where the spokes cross and oiled the spoke holes, the spoke tension s...

The brief hellos and how`r you do-ins from riders in various degrees of fatigue really makes all the difference to help buoy the spirit . Huge thanks to the group I rode to the cafe with when seriously flagging. Biggest thanks to Mac (or Nyall as he prefers) we made a good team, back next year ........
