Re: Mechanical Hydraulic Brakes...

Least expensive for the experience would be Juin Tech R1. They were on the Fargo when I bought it and once dialed in worked very well. Use Shimano pads and squeaky in the wet. Front started to fade and couldn't find how to service it so replaced with Spyre and didn't really notice any difference exc...

Re: 2'' or 2.35 slick tyre on a 50mm rim ??

I ran BA 2.35 on 30mm internal rims. Plenty of shape in the tyre so another 10mm each side should be ok. Once on and inflated they tend to stretch and become easier to get off if you need to but might need to get your heel to press the bead away to start with. edit Currently running G-Ones 2.25 on t...

Yes a ti Stooge 650 version. Someone asked me if I would sell it and caught me on the wrong day so I said yes. Gravel bikes were the thing. Mmmmm shiny new. Two replacement bikes and two years later I asked if he would sell it back? Answer no because he has never ridden it and it was still in the bo...

Are the stations manned? How many trains per day and does the train carry bikes if so how many? Are there restricted times when no bikes allowed? How far in advance would you need to book the bike and how? Basically if you fetch up at the far end station walk through the logistics of getting back. F...

Re: Going back to 10

Where does one buy proper wide range 10 speed cassettes for normal shimano freehub at a reasonable price I buy 11-36 on my commuter but want at last 40. My MTB is up to 40 using a hope t rex but unless I reuse that, which I suppose it possible, I'm wondering what I can get. I've had the same casset...

Re: Handlebar harness catching mudguard

I had that problem to the extent I unclipped the mudguard and carried it. The bar bag/ pressed on the mudguard pushing the mudguard onto the tyre. Found out some time later I had been routing the straps incorrectly. I had contacted Wildcat to see about modifying the straps and they pointed me at a v...

Sidmouth not sunny East Devon.

When I was dabbling with the dark side the emtb forum had a riders location map.

Comparison of mats and R values here. https://backpackinglight.com/sleeping-p ... at-useful/

Seems to be a grey area especially when you have two sets of R values. Interesting line regarding matching sleeping bag and mat.

I have some TRP 160mm rotors and grips a choice of DMR Death Grip or ESI 5" Chunkie available.
For some reason I have a spare new Shimano XT FD low mount side swing 11 speed.
And an XT QR 135mm skewer with all the bits.

Re thru axles just a very minor point which some may snort at but do consider the implications of the 'Stealth' version over the 'Maxle' version. With the Maxle you can always drop a wheel out without delving into your onboard tools or picking up your Allen Key set to do something not bike related o...

Did you check the limit screws? Two little grub screws that’s set how far the mech cage will swing.
The mech is fine its the shifter that is moving beyond where it should.
There is an argument that 'given I only have two chainrings why shift to the third position' but lets not do that now.

Rapidfire Front Shifter

Trying to set up my FD on new build 2x11 XT gear train. The front Rapidfire 11 speed covers 3x and 2x with a selector marked 3x or 2x according to the Shimano Tech Document except mine does not have a selector. I think my previous one was the same but never had a problem getting it to work properly....

Re: Wide Range Gearing Question

I had a SRAM 2x10 on my Fargo with Apex brake/shifters. I upgraded the cassette to a Sunrace 11-40 only because I was not sure if the 42 would fit without a link. As it was the RD had a very long B screw so it would have taken the 11-42 easily. As long as the front to rear gear teeth differences wor...
