Made me smile, plus EBB and Chain question
All's well that ends well. https://road.cc/content/news/ebay-seller-refuses-accept-bike-auction-offer-280079 EBB. Does anyone service their EBB? Mine is the split shell with pinch bolts on the bottom so an open slot at the bottom. The HT2 BB is contained in the sealed(?) EBB shell so protected from ...

Anyone tried these? https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/jan/13/yellow-mealworm-safe-for-humans-to-eat-says-eu-food-safety-agency Even the EU approve. I've got some cricket powder, to just mix in with other stuff when cooking...I like the idea of it, very expensive though Didn't know you pl...

Re: Taking a knife to a gunfight.
If you look at early CTC photos and RSF archive then the bike style of 'choice' is mainly drop bar. I would dare to suggest that tradition is on their side. However if you look at cycle touring from the golden era (?) 1920s and 30s you will see a mixture of bikes and handlebar configurations...

Re: Wtd: Shimano Freehub purging tool
Thought I might have been onto a winner until somebody mentioned grease.
I have DT Swiss hubs so need their two types of special grease distilled from powdered Unicorn horn and Dragon tears.
Then I realised that DT Swiss hubs I don't have this problem.

Re: Wtd: Shimano Freehub purging tool
I was about to suggest that it would be easy enough to fabricate something but a quick google seems to indicate that it is a 'bastard' thread size 30.5mm x 1.1mm or 23.1 tpi which is not available on most lathes. Would a simple plastic/nylon flanged tube trapped by the lockring work? This could be t...

Re: Let’s talk torque
All the small stuff that is too easy to overtighten.
Strangely not BB or cassette.
Found myself struggling to remove RS Stealth axle the other day so when it came to refitting glanced at my torque set then thought nah.

Never seen or heard of that before so I feel qualified to comment. It appears to have seven strings, 23.5 frets, with scale length not stated. How many octaves can you get? Looks like an electric version of a Brahms Guitar except the Brahms has eight strings and played vertically like a cello....

Duff Battery Pack
Just had to replace the battery pack on an aged Bosch drill. Before I take it to the recycling does anyone want/need it? It is 14.4V 1.2Ah 4/5Cs NiCd. Lots on youtube on how to test service/replace them. This does not hold a charge so probably only one or two cells have failed. Free + postage or eve...

These apparently fit under your helmet - price alert https://veracycling.fr/index.php/casquettes-velo-hiver-winter-cycling-caps/ but that's the French for you. I wear what I believe is called a beanie that came attached to the cover of an MTB magazine thirty years ago. For cold/not so cold days an e...

Probably too late but do look at Screwfix https://www.screwfix.com/c/electrical-lighting/led-head-torch/cat8340002?producttype=led_headlamp Just got one for Mrs M to save her treading on badgers/foxes/squirrels or tripping over the deer that has moved in when she is on night manoeuvres in the garden.

Ditto remarks about riding position but with a medium frame. If you want to see Fargo builds with Loops then Keep Pedalling have some custom build photos. Also have a look through TDF riders r1gs quite a few use this set up. Guitar Ted also has reviews and thoughts on Fargo/Loops. I was going to con...

Re: Todays ride
Thursday. What a mudfest. The mud was so thick and sticky that on one of my favourite gentle downhill sections of a green road I had to peddle in a low gear just to keep going. Had to use my water bottle as a pressure jet to free up the FD at one point and up on Woodbury there was a sniper having a ...
