The Goats are coming

Something lighthearted that made me smile https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/coronavirus-lockdown-goats-wales-animals-llandudno-nature-a9437636.html Seem to remember a similar 'problem' in Lynton. Perhaps it wasn't the white mice after all? Goats always look as they know more than they ...

That falls under the 'it's not a bug it's a feature' category.
Think of it as a beta version jacket.
Softies have been using this excuse for ages.
(I expect one will be a long to expand? )

Re: Sleep Systems

I was going to raise the two types of R value for SI and US equipment but just found out that there is another new system from 2020 onwards. Don't know if its unified or they started again but it appears to be an industry standard and not too far removed from what we already have. https://www.ultral...

Re: Oldest bit of kit you own - and still use.

Helly Lifa base layer.
Pre silver type circa early 80s.
It is indestructible and the smell is not a problem to me.
Plus a Musto Thermal balaclava. Never used it sailing but lots of times up a mountain and bivying.

Re: G-one tires

G-One Allround 29x2.25 in SnakeSkin TL-Easy. Got them on 30mm internal rims and look huge. Managed a puncture first ride but ok since and they do fling a lot more mud and spray in the wet than Big Apples did. I accidentally rode them through some really churned up slop where they are logging round h...

Have you read H.W. Tilman: The Eight Sailing/Mountain Exploration Books?

True stories of a crusty old character. Soldier, mountaineer, sailor and loner.
Cant think why he appeals so much. :o

At the rate I lose and wear out gloves I use Halfords sale bin and treat them as disposable.

Face Masks.

Anyone got one they use and how practical are they? In anticipation of a mass start event in April, that usually attracts some 400 riders, not being cancelled it may or may not be a precaution depending on how things develop. My chosen mask, at random by revues, is on forward order only. It is a gen...

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.

Mental, I really should have canned it but..... Lesson learned, if I’d opted for the bunkhouse I’d not have wrecked a good tent and I could have got into some serious bother being on my own. Chapeau - proper adventure I would say and shame about the tent. How do you think a bivvy bag would have cop...

Re: Mechanical Hydraulic Brakes...

Least expensive for the experience would be Juin Tech R1. They were on the Fargo when I bought it and once dialed in worked very well. Use Shimano pads and squeaky in the wet. Front started to fade and couldn't find how to service it so replaced with Spyre and didn't really notice any difference exc...
