I'm on the same boat but as I'll probably get 2 weeks off starting from Jenn's ride weekend I'll have time to recover. And it's bloody good to ride thereianfitz wrote:I've donated but as it's the week before the HT550 I may give it a miss. Shame as it's a great event and route.

Thanks a lot, guys Found a team already with Jenny, Lee and some more riders. Hope it's not muddy. It looks more like we'll have ice and snow.

Strathpuffer 2017. Who is in? Tips and advice
Hi, I was in a waiting list for solo category and got the entry confirmed on New Year's Eve. Who else is going there? I'm travelling alone and have no helpers. The organizer wrote me I have no space for pit area and I'll have to find a team or someone who let me leave my stuff for the race with them...

Re: Winter headwear and bothy slippers
I'm regularly using the Sealskinz waterproof hat, even for taking my friend's dog these days. Excellent piece of kit if you are riding long hours in the cold. Have no experience with similar stuff other than a windproof skullcap. https://www.sealskinz.com/UK/image/cache/data/products/2014/Hats/13114...

Re: 2017 plans
Here is my list. First af all I'd like to read a lot of books, as I used to, and finish the new bike build. Ride the NC500 in 2 days but I'm struggling to find dates. January: Strathpuffer (I was on a waiting list and committed suicide on 31st December hehe) March: Battle on the Beach April: Tour of...

Re: Christmas plans
I took a train from Penzance (10-20km from Lands End) to Slough via Reading. Those dates no bicycles were allowed within London area so I had to ride from Slough to Enfield in the dark again and on freezing cold weather. It was another 4 hours

Re: Christmas plans
Wow Javi, have just noticed your post. Impressive trip, hope it's going - or went! - well! It was great! I had no much spare time for this and rode many hours in the dark, pushing hard towards the end. Tons of punchy hills on the second half of the ride. This was my ride on Boxing Day https://www.r...

As I'm unable to enjoy Christmas with my family I've decided to ride from London to Lands End. Hope to finish tomorrow very late or early 28th.

What a nice weekend despite of the incessant rain. Loved the muddy downhill bits. Dinner at the pub was superb and the place we slept was fabulous, roasting marshmallows was ace! Hope I can make it next time. Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen, Ben for organising the pub night, the Ch...

Hello,
Can I join you for the ride? Don't worry about dinner at the pub, as I think it's a bit late now and you have everything arranged.

Never done the SDW but I live in the south and I'm interested, too.

No group start for me next year. The start is the same weekend as the European Singlespeed Championships in Evanton which I am helping to organise. Might do an ITT at some point. Hey Tom, I'm planning to participate at that event as I'm going to race at the WEMBO 24h in Finale Ligure the weekend af...

It sounds like the Peak 200 group start continues to be challenging then! If Javi rode the whole route then Gemayel be the first finisher from a group start - third time lucky! Still no female completions at anytime that I'm aware of... Hope you enjoyed it anyway  After we passed some illumin...

Hi Bob! Great riding with you. Such bad luck these garmins are not tough enough. I arrived at 11:32am feeling very good. Had some last hour navigational problems and got delayed towards the end. Staff at the Oenny pot cafe in Edale passed your words, Ian. Thanks! I arrived 10 minutes after you left....
