Hmm. Change right enough - I suggested that variation to Allan in 2015 and he said it was too easy! More to come apparently, how exciting! Which change is that Phil? The Gobernuisach to Lone track rather than Bealach Horn or another one? Yup - no Bealach horn :(( but Bealach na Feith instead. Not s...

Re: Retro motorbike rim? Free/feed the bear

Ah velosolex! Pretty cool things those, I recall riding one with a mate many years ago with no lids, everytime a car approached we just started pedaling!

Sorry no use to me then. Might get a few quid off the bay as there is quite velosolex following out there.

Re: Retro motorbike rim? Free/feed the bear

Hi Paul
Is it definitely 28 holes? Motorbikes are generally either 36 or 40....

Not that I'm doubting your counting ability but unlikely to be a motorbike rim with 28....hmm

Re: Parking at Tyndrum

Rich, I think you can still park at the far end of the old TI car park (i.e. where we used to park for the HT) as the signs the owner of the new diner don't seem to extend to that bit. The bays across from the shop just up from the Green welly also have no indication they are for customers only.

Just ordered a bundle to try out.
Again not massively calorific, but can always add something else (pitta, mini naan, rice, couscous etc) to bulk it up.
Good find - they look pretty good

Has the startlist been posted somewhere? It's still showing the 2024 list on the website. Saw a post by Alan today saying there's a change to the route, it'll be interesting to see what's new. https://highlandtrail550.weebly.com/startlist.html Change of route you say? Wonder what Alan is thinking.....

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy

:-bd I recall passing it on a Forth Fat ride a few years ago but a GPX of the JMW would be handy Jimmy. I'll probably hoof it across from Fife with maybe a train thrown in if the weather is yuck or I don't fancy mixing it up with Embra traffic. I 'spose a Jar beforehand in the Ship in North Berwick ...

Re: Mudguards

Would these work? https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m19b0s80p1622/STRONGLIGHT-S-Type-Mudguard I'm liking these, and cheap! I find that the distance between the tyre and the underside of the fork crown is key - if you are running 650b wheels on a 700 fork, there should be plenty of room?? I've also cut a b...

Re: Winter Bivvy '24

Fires are frowned on it Tentsmuir as there has been a lot of bother from baw bags in recent years. I was more thinking of somewhere in the woods to be honest in terms of shelter. There is a track up the western edge which passes a couple of spots I've used which should fit three or four tarps....

Sorry to hear about your Mum Gecko, a fitting tribute. Well I survived my November Bivvy although it was looking a bit marginal at one point. Prior to discovering mudhuggers I used a crude guard on the krampus. Was just abt wide enough to cover 29+ and I could clamp it to the seat tube under the seat post clamp

Re: Mattress repair?

Worth contacting Thermorest / Cascade designs as they have a repair service plus their mats have a lifetime warranty. Failing that they'll give good advice on home repairs.
