Re: instant porridge oats with milk in sachets ?
I'm a bit lazy so I buy the instant porridge pots and empty the contents into a bag. They come in all sorts of flavours and I'll always add some sultanas too

Re: Cooking tips
Cous-cous gets my vote. To add a bit of texture I'll chop up some chorizo and onion and put it in a plastic bag with a spoon of cooking oil before I leave home. Boil water and add to the cous-cous and set aside. I then chuck the contents of the bag into the pot and fry gently. Then put the cous-cous...

Re: Lakeland200 25/27th October
I'm interested in doing this some time this year. Has anyone here completed the whole route? I'm being lazy as I'm sure most of the answers are on Google / Google Earth.. How much of the route is on-road? Can you find food (pubs / Spars) without having to divert too far off the route? Will I be carr...

Re: Slime inner tubes?
I haven't saved any weight yet though as I still carry 2 tubes. You have saved the weight of at least one tube because the two tubes you now carry would have been in your wheels plus you would have carried at least one tube as a spare. Also if you haven't had a puncture in two bikes for two years w...

Re: Slime inner tubes?
I tried Slime tubes but ran into problems with bigger punctures. The sealant didn't want to seal and trying to get a patch to stick is nearly impossible with all that slime about! Tubeless is the way to go - 2 bikes converted and no flats for over 2 years :D I haven't saved any weight yet though as ...

Battery pack worked well. I stuck it in my frame bag and ran a cable up to the GPS. Oversized for this trip but compact enough... :)Yorlin wrote:
Great stuff there! How did you find the battery charger? That looks like the exact sort of thing I need. :!:

Re: T 'n B ... where you going?
I'm heading SW, across to Nant y Moch - Talybont - down to what's left of Aberystwyth. Up the Ytswyth and across to Devil's Bridge. Not sure then - I might slip into Llanidloes :) Worried I might get lost behind Nant - but isn't that the idea? :D

Re: There 'n back ... DETAILS SENT.
I was planning on riding to Aberystwyth but looking at the news it may have washed away by the end of tonight! The town centre has been evacuated in readiness for the high tide at 21:40.

Re: There 'n back ... DETAILS SENT.
Hmmm, I was thinking of heading to Aberystwyth too! I was going to use a bit of Glyndwr's Way but then head down to Nant yr moch. Ride the trails at the back of Nant yr Arian and head to Aber. Follow the Ystwyth trail back out.... That's as far as I've got :) Bivvying in the sand dunes sounds windy....

First time bikepacking for me :) I've done a couple of overnight bothy rides and I've spent a few nights in bivvys - I've just got to put the 2 together. How hard can that be? :?
Can't wait! :)

@Mandicky, hello. Was wondering what to search for on eBay for those bar clamps?! Not sure if this link works: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331031280934?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 They are to mount a bottle holder on the bars so search 'water' 'bottle' handlebar' 'clamp' 'm...
