Luna Mono Sandals - I actually bought these for running :ugeek: but they are so light they would make great camp shoes on a longer trip http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt348/shawnmcfarlane/luna_zpsd8b8968d.jpg I've been testing Luna Sandals for the last four weeks and have been less-than-impress...

Jameso - Your set-up always looks so tidy and coordinated!
Not a strap or a bulge out of place.
Smart as a carrot!

The Coast to Coast and Back Again
I had a stab at the Coast to Coast to Coast over the weekend on the road bike, passing through my own-devised route through The Dales and The Lakes with an overnight stop (and piss-up) in Workington. A disagreement between my pedals and my knees saw me DNF after 185 miles (with 90 still to go). I wr...

Wouldn't you have to pay a small fortune to get a bike on a flight though?FLV wrote:1, Go on sky scanner, book the cheapest flight to europe, ride home. Works for trains in UK too.
Sounds interesting- Do you know what the cost is to do this?

Re: Terra Nova Moonlight bivi question
Zippy, I have both. I find that the Moonlight is a little smaller than the Hunka - Narrower at the feet, and the hood (not sure if that's the correct name for it) isn't quite big enough to pull over. I'm 6'. It packs down a lot more than the Hunka, and is lighter. I'll take a photo of the two laid o...

Sounds really good. I'll definitely be signing up for this. Stu - not sure if it is just me, but I couldn't see the info on this event from the URL you posted - until I clicked at the top-left of the screen and it brought me to this URL (where the info is): http://www.bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/inde...

50 miles of riding without fuel! Eurghhh, that would wipe me out for days!
Ha, nice pictures too! 8-)
Had the pleasure of visiting Long Mynd and Church Stretton earlier this year for a trail running camp, and really enjoyed the trails. Would love to do it on the bike!

Assos are the best on the market, But you can't go wrong with Wiggle's DHB range. I bought my first pair of these earlier this year, and am so surprised at how good these are. Avoid cheap shorts. They will wear at the seams, the logos etc will fall off, they will fray, and worst of all - the chammy ...

Hmmm, the smell of Red Bull brings back memories (or lack of) for the wrong reasons. I babysat Chubby Brown's grandkids when I was a boy, invited a friend and a few girls round and we raided their cupboards and mixed all spirits with Red Bull. :? Bad night. Similarly, I can't bear chicken and mayonn...

Firmo's Coast to Coast - July 2013 (30 / 144 miles)
I set off on Friday afternoon on what was to be a solo, unsupported trip of Wainwright's Coast to Coast. I covered 30+ miles and pitched. I woke up on the Saturday and struggled. Nevertheless, I took a detour and decided to do my own version of the C2C instead, and ended up covering 144 miles on the...

I'll be getting me a Wildcat Tiger soon. Having looked at them and read the reviews, they seem to be just the job!
For this weekend though, luggage straps and Velcro will suffice.

Best way to mount Airlok Xtra / Map to Bike
I'm looking to get two answers from the fountain of bikepacking knowledge: 1. What is the best (most stable + easy to attach + access) way to mount an Airlok Xtra drybag under the saddle? 2. What's the best way to mount a map to the bike? Please let me know if there is any additional bits and pieces...

Re: Pedal Advice
Worth noting for Wainwrights that there are a reasonable amount of bike a hike sections. Up blacksail pass is a carry and the top part of the decent is quite technical Yeh, I've done the Coast to Coast before - and to be honest, the thing that puts me off most about wearing SPDs is the tricky Black...

Re: Pedal Advice
I am doing the Coast to Coast (Wainwright's / Wheelright's) in a couple of weeks and am debating whether to opt for SPDs (or Crank Bros) or flats. I threw some SPDs on the MTB during the weekend and headed out in to the wilderness. I must have fallen off about 8 times on the more technical stuff. Qu...

WANTED: Medium Mountain Bike
A good friend of mine is looking for a mountain bike.
He's about 5'8 so I suspect a Medium-size frame would be best.
He is also looking to get in to bikepacking too - so if you have a bike kicking about, and some extras that would come in handy - that would be an extra bonus.
