Re: surly troll or salsa fargo?

Personally would go down the Fargo route but I am biased as I already own one. The troll is a pretty special piece of kit but the dropouts are a pain in the arse for getting the wheel out if you are running it geared. Either way I would avoid bar end shifters and go for STI's, the luddites will tell...

Re: WRT 'lonely hearts club' thread.

Myself and a mate will be doing this, he's never done this sort of stuff before other than a trial ride to the pub which was about 3 miles in total, I'm recovering from a dodgy back and dead slow so if anyone wants to join team slow you are more than welcome... Plan is to do the full one, with first...

Re: WRT & BB 200 Entries Now Open.

Entered, it will be motivation to get my arse back into shape, far far too much sitting around lately looking out of the window, did a 38 miler today around the south end of the peaks (staffs/Derbys border out the back of Ilam) and it about killed me.

Re: Salsa Anything bottle cage

I'd be a bit worried about mounting with cableties, there is not a lot to stop the cage from getting knocked and spinning backwards around the fork leg and into the wheel, with potential for some over the bars action or trolleying the cage and whatever is in it. The cages are fairly good but a bit f...

Not having a lift home from Wales until Monday kept me going through the wetter parts of this years WRT, that and some decent company courtesy of Taylor and co when the roadie contingency all dropped out :) Joking apart, it's probably the stubborn barsatrd in me that says keep going, I like being ou...

Re: MYOG solid bar bag mount rack.

Nice thinking, the welding looks good as well, not easy to weld aluminium. Issues might be: The foam between the stem and unit might allow it to flex up and down, leading to stress on the bolt You are not going to be able to run a bar mounted light. I came up with a different solution to the same pr...

You want a set of these:

I run them on my spare set of wheels and they roll fairly well, pretty decent grip and these are cheap from on-one.

Re: Lock

Those pc world ones look like they are for locking a laptop down, laptops usually have a small slot which the lock fits into and the end turns 90¤, I suspect it would not lock back on itself to form a loop. May be worth a trip to pc world to have a look before splashing the cash. Edit, seems that it...

Re: Cable or Hydraulic discs for bikepacking.

Thing that will prevent me ever having Shimano brakes is the lack of seals should it die! That really bugs me out. They seem to last forever though, the xts I have are now 6years old and still going strong and even if they do die new callipers are cheap as chips on crc. I think the fact that seals ...

See, I reckon the problem is that most people have done like I have and made the forum page the favourite rather than the front page so miss the shop front out, perhaps a link to it between general banter and anyone playing out might get you a bit more exposure and sales?

Re: Thinking about a Ti frame........

Hi Andy My single speed is one of the lynskey built on-one ti29ers and I love it, I run it rigid and find I end up sitting down most of the time it is so comfy. Mine has been back under warranty after the downtube cracked though so I'm not too convinced it is the wonder material that the manufacture...

Ian,
I already have a set of midges I was thinking of moving on and just about every other type of bars ever made to the point where my garage looks like a bar museum so will skip this one if you don't want to split them up.
Cheers

Re: Salsa cages and suspension forks

They are quite nice and light though, and I think Triton are doing them at £16 each which isn't bad really considering you get the (a bit too sub standard) straps too. Fixed it for you. I threw the originals away and now use some of these: http://www.rockandrescue.co.uk/outdoor-c644/military-field-...

I like these ones:

Probably not the lightest but they have everything you could need apart from a corkscrew, are well put together and are the only decent piece of kit cranky brothers make.
