Hey folks. Sorry to only appear to flog something, but I've been a bit busy and had to stop myself spending so much time on the internet. :( Anyway...I have a set of the standard width alloy Jones loops for sale. very neatly taped with black lizard skin tape. Great condition. Looking for £90 posted ...

It's all just about creating memories...So long as you're having fun, and riding a bike, you can call yourselves whatever you want. :D

Re: New Alpkit Bikepacking Gear

Terapin has 2 less straps than the Tiger so may be faster to use which is my only minor issue with the Tiger but I wonder if it's possible to be as secure without those 2 straps. The Tiger's solidity is it's real strength. It just fits so well. I can't speak for Eric's design, but my own only uses ...

Re: New Alpkit Bikepacking Gear

Revelate is about to launch the 'terapin' Eric's take on the idea of the wildcat 'Tiger' I seem to remember that Eric chucked a bit of a paddy when Wildcat mentioned the word "harness" in the description of the Mountain Lion. Seems a bit cheeky of him to copy a design. It would be naive t...

Re: Bar ends, aero bars and other stuff ...

I originally ordered them in the custom length, as in that picture, but I found the extra 'straight' position just got in the way really...plus you can rest your hands on the pads if you want a really upright position. The freds were good for me...not so much for the height gain, more for the closer...

Re: ESI grips for the small of hand?

I have ESI chunkies on my jones bars in the longer length and absolutely love them. I find them much better at relieving hand pain than my ergons because they absorb vibration so much better. I have quite girly hands and find the chunky version are fine. I also have lizard skins tape on the crossbar...

Re: Bar ends, aero bars and other stuff ...

Just imagine someone fitted 2 pairs of bar ends. 1 pair in the usual 'end of bars' position and the other pair inboard ... just how long could they ride for before the fashion police caught up with them ? I never did worry much about the fashion police! :D http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s53/kid...

Re: Tour Divide 2013

Cheers for that James...that looks like a really light setup.
It's interesting that you say about using bigger tyres next time. That's something I noticed, that a lot of people seem to be using pretty narrow tyres...2.1" etc I'm assuming it would be for the comfort?

Incredible ride James!
I was watching your dot daily. :]

Any chance of a kit list? I'd be keen to hear what you took.
Also, anything you'd change in either your kit or bike setup if you did it again?

Re: pain in my right hand

The problem I found with Ergons is that while the shape is really comfy, they just transmit too much buzz to the hands because they're still a lock on with a fairly hard rubber and a hard core. I tried them for a good while, in both large and small versions, but I just found the buzz was causing mor...

Re: Pedal Advice

Why not try some single sided spd's? The XT model my folks have in their shop looks nice quality. I'm an ATAC man myself having used them for nearly twenty years now, but at least with single sided spd's you can unclip and ride the regular flat side on the technical sections, then over time as your ...

Just such a huge shame that's he's most probably not going to be able to set a record time. :( Why? Fires? Yeah...by the sound of it it's just not going to be possible to follow the official route, which means the time can't be counted as a record. http://halfpastdone.com/2013/06/24/tour-divide-day...

Re: Tour Divide 2013

I love the contrast between Cjell and Mike. Cjell, the bike hobo on his homemade steel single speed 3" tyred monster bike, dressed like he's going to the beach for a BBQ with his mates, and Mike, on his full carbon XTR equipped race machine, decked out in full lycra and helmet. Yet both kicking...
