Dropper/Seatpack thingamy

I've seen a few people ask recently about fitting seatpacks to dropper posts. We (Wildcat) have a dropper sleeve that was originally designed to work with our new Tiger seat harness (which is still delayed  ). It was originally designed specifically for our Tiger but if it seems like there's a ...

Re: Harness V Cradle help

Apologies for the dull question; I've not used Voile straps before for securing bags on the bike. What size/length do I need to use with a strap-deck cradle to secure 5 and 8 litre size dry-bags? I think 20" works well or 25" if you want the added security wrapping round the bars too. Lon...

Re: Harness V Cradle help

any idea when the large strap deck will be back in stock? On order, being made right now I think, so not too long hopefully. How do the nano straps compare with the regular ones? They're narrower and I find them probably a little more useful for general duties but regular ones probably better for u...

Guilty as charged. Thank you. BTW, I think drj0n wants to use a quote you sent me in his marketing material. "it's easy as pish!"

Re: Harness V Cradle help

Well i've received the Strapdeck and G-Funk bar clamps, attached to my bike with fully stuffed front roll and it's assembled perfectly. Far less faff than the Alpkit harness I have. Just waiting for the Voile straps now. all at a cost of £69 instead of £125 for the Salsa Anything cradle. Thanks Ste...

Re: Sonder Camino - toe overlap

Cheers. Having checked mine they're 10.5 and 11 cm (different pairs, not different feet ). Good to know that a large is most likely to fit. Just need to resist temptation to buy on line  Their geo charts list the large as having a 22mm longer wheelbase so that's how much further forward...

Re: Sonder Camino - toe overlap

Something doesn't look quite right there. Because I have much more boring things to do (VAT return), I quickly drew out a medium Camino based on the specs from the Alpkit website. I had to guess fork length but everything else seems ok. I can't get wheelbase to match what they list with all the othe...

I've not managed to work out how to do a bundle in an easy way using our store so I've added a temporary discount code 'FUNKBUNDLE' that'll give you 15% off any purchase with at least 3 items in your basket.

Re: Harness V Cradle help

The pack looks too low to me. And not as far away from the bars as the clamps on the Salsa allow which is the feature I like. Perhaps because of inexperience i'm splitting hairs A bit? Maybe, note that the whole thing can be rotated as much as you want so it would be perfectly possible to have it s...

Worth checking this, it's just been made available from Wildcat... https://wildcat.cc/collections/accessories/products/drj0ns-bagworks-g-funk Those clamps plus a strapdeck (same site), and you have the same/very similar as a salsa EXP but cheaper I was just about to post this, so good job. Re: With impeccable timing...New bike day!

Looks like a great bike BM. It's not a million miles away in concept from the Tam I did at Shand. I think a lot of people designing an off-road touring bike from scratch are going to come up with something very similar. Look forward to hearing how you get on with it,

Re: Broken road riders, assistance please

If you are accurately measuring the post as 31.4 and the frame is for 31.6 then the post you've got is clearly wrong. In which case Alpkit will take it back. Load of cheap 31.6 posts around without having to resort to pastes, fancy seatclamps or carbon posts.

Apparently some seatpacks are much better than others and when fitted securely, hardly sway at all. Thats's what I've heard anyway.

Re: Camera Phones (Sorry)

If you're not after a phone then you'll find that many manufacturers make a device with no phone but that still takes photographs. Unconstrained by other design criteria they can also fit them with decent lenses. I generally use my Touch Colin and it is capable of capturing a reasonable photo but I...

For who? The losers* riding gravel now?

If you're gonna put on an event and market it as a race, I think you give up all the rights to complain when fast people enter it aiming to win.

I know this is really bonkers and sadly this is how my mind works but if I don't have mudguard eyes and rack mounts on the frame I can't have them on the fork   I can't help it though I can see this escalating in to a whole new bike (in addition to the other 3) If you can find a ...

Re: Does this CX (gravel) fork exist...or is it possible to get a fork made ?

How come they are now heavier? Shand don't make them anymore, they're Taiwanese. Heavier steerer and blades. The original ones actually used some custom drawn blades that I designed (one reason they rode so well and were so light). Those blades will all be gone now but I did sell a load to Steve Ga...

400mm ish axle to crown 45mm ish offset Skinny steel, unicrown, straight leg Light and comfortable, 800g ish ? Not overbuilt with rack mounts , bosses , mudguard mounts, nine of that shenanigans. Straight steerer QR Post mount would be ideal Good clearance for 42mm tyre The older Shand Stoater fork...

Re: Find me a spacer please

At Shand I had a load of spacers made for 24mm spindles (mostly for use on Fatbikes and Middleburn cranks). I *think* they were 2.5mm and 5mm. If you drop an email to fraser@shandcycles.com he might still have them and I'm sure he'd stick a few in the post for you. Also, I'm pretty sure Middleburn c...

I'm confused with what you need. If it's 24mm spindle (which the Aeffect is) then you just need a couple of standard PF30 BB spacers. Something like this : https://activesport.co/epages/80c85f8f-7a95-4b1c-9c30-e64b314f3f2e.sf/?Locale=en_GB&ObjectPath=/Shops/80c85f8f-7a95-4b1c-9c30-e64b314f3f2e/P...

I spent way to much on my sleep system but after years of always feeling like my trips could have been better without the niggling little sleep issues, I don't regret any of what I spent and wish I'd done it much earlier.
