Re: Northern England Christmas Bivi
The largish flat spot in threes I mentioned is somewhere close to SK 171941 - although I'd like to double check that just to be sure I have the GR correct (if that's where folk want to go) its relatively sheltered and fairly well hidden from the path by a steep bank. Which is fun to get down! It's t...

Just back from the 'team Sheffield' meet up. Curry was eaten, maps studied, bikes were admired, fear levels increased!
Good to finally meet Pete, Mark and Tom all at once. Really looking forward to it now...

Certainly interested in that. Can think of a large flat spot in woodland over looking ladybower. That would give a wide variety of approach options from all day epics to 4 miles after the pub!

Glad that fun was had! I took but some time from work this afternoon and snuck out for a couple of hours in the daylight.
Are you heading out next week? I'm generally keen but organise the Edale skyline gell rave which is this coming sunday so may be a bit too tired by Monday night. Will see

Re: These new fangled thick/thin chain rings...
I've had a prototype one on a rigid 26er with 1x9 gears and a non clutch mech. I've not dropped the chain despite riding on various rough surfaces. Rocks roots etc.
Ian if you want to try one I have it spare currently as the bike has been decomissioned.

Re: Suggest a 2 or 3 day ride for me...
Pushing down hill!! It's very short lived ... in daylight it's just about rideable. 1/2 mile on there's another descent that's certainly ridable but will catch a few out in th dark*. *Again, it's fairly short. It's ok, I'm not adverse to a bit of hike-a-bike. A recent outing involved pushing for se...

Re: Mid-Wales to the Peak?
Not sure about the first bit you'll need to ride but, If you can hit the pennine bridleway anywhere south of chee dale you can turn right when you get to the Monsal trail. That will take you right to thornbridge. Old railway so not too radical. Kind of cool though as you get to ride through the tunn...
