So one week to go and I'm seeing pictures and hearing of a good powder dump on the cairngorm range ready for this weekends skiers, sounds like it could be an epic for the event next week.
Anyone else on here doing it, I'm looking for some water wings for the burn crossings

Food on the go. Whats best.
Something I'm rubbish at, as I'm a bit like a rabbit in the headlights when given food choices. I've often ridden with people who come out of a shop with good choices while I have chosen junk. I'm not talking your preferred food that you'd take from the word go, I'm talking food from your average 7-...

Good call on the bumbag, will be copying that great idea :D
I generally put everything in the front bag required to make camp, so that bag only gets opened at the end of the day. All clothes in the rear.

Re: Calais - Nice backpacking
Interesting, wonder if this recce ride is an idea for an event.
Did the TransProvence a few years ago and rode from Nice to Monaco, which is where is gets really interesting. Would be interesting to catch some other areas of France.

Re: Very interesting - dynamo content.
I would be *very* interested in a dynamo that could switch between charging USB devices and running/charging lights. Best of luck with it, I'll definitely be watching as things develop. Just building one myself, Dynamo wheel is built, the MYOG circuits not to difficult. It's just making it watertig...

Re: My Ti Lynskey has cracked!
Plenty of Cove Hummers have died, I known at least two. Sounds good Ian, I'm slightly confused how they could have shortened the chainstays and improved ring clearance and added a brace! Will be interested to see it. I'm happy with my decision on quitting. Mine and a highly respected welding instruc...

I don't want to break your bubble of joy Ian, but check it over very carefully. Check the wheel alignment.

Nice job. Looks good especially the handsome chap on the first photo
Is a page listing facilities available at the start or on route worthwhile. Promote good local stores, camping and B&B near the start and any water stops maybe.

Re: Trans Cambrian Way Double?
If your quoting a record time for a route it has to be the actual time taken surely. otherwise you can stop and rest for hours and refuel in comfort.

Fancied one of their ultra light vests, shame they are not on the sale list.

Re: World Cycle Race
Racers reporting various problems and scrapes, Mike Hall is not immune either. Seems he had to backtrack to find a way out of Albania and is struggling to find Tarmac so doing tough miles that don't count and has snapped a rear mech mount. Albania sounds scary too. 3000 km though, mental. One guy re...

Good view of the sky at the weekend but nowt else. Happy I was comfortable in my Rab Nutrino bag despite 0 degs though. Thetford forest resonates to the sound of gun fire late into the night though which was worrying :? http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7048/6789793630_3a9cbbdf01.jpg Untitled by numplum...

Re: Bike Bags
I've always travelled with a softbag and had no problems on probably 20+ trips over the years. I use some light wooden battens fixed from side to side to strengthen against impacts that way. Bolt a wooden batten to the bottom of the forks and across the rear wheel mount and your pretty strong. The b...
