Maxxis on a dually rim
Current set up of 2.4 continentals driving me mad loosing air and with leaky sidewalls so I'm thinking of putting maxxi tyres on. I assume 2.4 ardents will fit fine but has anyone put 2.35 ikons on a rim of this width? (Id like to build some new wheels with Ikons on blunt ss rims - but until I sell my Long Haul Trucker Im told by the current I m on a strict budget... )
Re: Maxxis on a dually rim
I'm not sure how wide those rims are but I've ridden 000's of km with ikon 2.35s on 35 and 38mm rims.
I'd be fairly sure they would take a wide rim too. They are noticeable bigger than a 2.4 xking

Put on and pump up while in a small enclosed area. Let us know how you get on.
Maaop ... maaop.
I'm sure it'll be fine. Probably.

I have some permanent hearing loss due to exactly this.GregMay wrote:Put on and pump up while in a small enclosed area. Let us know how you get on.

Re: Maxxis on a dually rim
I've put 2.3's on a dually before. Can't remember what they were but the profile ended up very flat , it wasn't nice. However, if as Ian says, the 2.35" Ikon is bigger than a 2.4" X-King (which is a very big tyre), then they should be okay and it could prove worthwhile ... but if it's any smaller, I wouldn't bother.
May the bridges you burn light your way

I run 2.4 Ardents and 2.35 Nobby Nics on Duallys. Both great imo. Shouldn't be any problems with the Ikon.
