Starting to look like you could make up a long bike trip in Italy linking bits of these trails, I expect they use some of the best stuff in each area.

On another note, these Italian trail events are making me feel a bit sponsor-logo inadequate re the Torino-Nice Rally site

Can't see a start and finish on my phone, anybody know?

Edit. I'm on my jollies that week in lanzarote anyway.

The start is in Ravenna, and it looks like the finish is there (or very near) too.

Like the look of this, the 600km route looks like it could be comparable to the Tusc Trail..

@jamesO - you need to get sponsored by Ginsters and Leffe. Let's see folks doing 4 days after enjoying sponsored drinking each evening. :)

Perhaps Buckfast Abbey could sponsor the HT550.

I did see that there's now a fb page though.

A TNR facebook? Great, not my doing though. Actually there could be a 'sponsor' next year. It'd just mean you get free stuff in Nice. Like a sort of commiseration or apology for all those hills

Scott, did you find Ginsters there? Missed that. Didn't miss many beer stops though. We found a great one to add to the cues for next year.

(Sorry .. drifting. Will shut up now.)

Here's another Italian bikepacking event. 1100km around Sardinia in May.

It's quite hilly. Only two finishers this year. 480km version also available.

@jamesO - alas I didn't. Other pastry based alternatives were sourced and devoured. That said, I'd not say no to a cold Ginsters pasty before setting off on some of those climbs. And take one for half way up!

@alanG - nice find; that looks fantastic! Less climbing than TNR...TD retry might just have to wait. Coin toss will ensue.

Sardinia would be good.. lots of climbing, says 28,500m, that's more than the TNR that was 15-18,000 on most finishers GPS. Maybe that's the online mapping total rather than from-ride total, they seem to vary a fair bit.

Maybe my GPS was playing funny buggers, but I recorded 640-ish Kms and 23000-ish m of vert. 28000m over 1100Kms seems quite fair. Will have to look back at that. But yes...Sardinia looks pretty good as does its price tag.

Hmm .. maybe a few creative routes in those lower figures? : ) If you had a mo to send your route track it'd be great to have a look at it compared to my mapping site totals for each section? If 28,000 is actual track data for Sardinia that's a lot of hills, even over 1100km.
