Footprint under Bivi? Anyone use one? If so what do you use?
As per the title, do any of you use a footprint (a sheet of material etc) under your bivi? If so what do you use?
Will be using my bivi in anger for the first time next week and just had this thought.
Cheers,
Hayden.

Nope, mat goes under bivi though.

If it's wet, I use a piece of Tyvek roof membrane cut to size under my bivi (mat inside). If it's dry and clean underneath then you might get away without it.

Yep I use a length of tyvek under my Bora though mine came from backpackinglite. Weighs nothing and takes up very little space.
I'm just going outside ...

I've got a BPW bathtub floor, which I sometimes use, needs pegs though
Have used polychro, Mylar and an old tarp/sheet under my bivy/mat, I've also used a thin foam mat
Last few times I've used nothing though and been fine, whether in forest or out in the open. Just spend a while clearing the space to make sure there's nothing sharp or rough
For more than one night if I use anything like polychro when it's wet then when I fold it up everything both sides get wet, or I open it up badly and get both sides wet, which makes the whole thing a bit pointless!
Something on the floor when I'm using a pyramid shelter makes things more homely sometimes

I sometimes use a silver emergency blanket from the pound shop. Keeps the mat off damp ground and offers a tiny bit more protection from sharp stuff. Packs easily to v small and weighs nowt.

I put my mat under the bivvy. Tried putting the mat inside, felt like a stuffed sausage and could hardly breathe and I'm quite small.
