Geax Saguaro on a stans rim?
Evening all,
Bought some Sunringle Black flag 29er wheels, which have a rim licenced by Stans no tubes.
They came with a nice light set of Schwalbe Racing Ralphs, and after 2 rides out and 2 punctures causes by nothing and leaving quite large holes in the tyres, I'm starting to think they may be 2 thin and light for my purposes.
First thought came to replacing with the Geax Saguaro TNT version, got on really well on my other bike, but have read that they are verging on the impossible to get on a stans rim?
Does anyone have any experience of Saguaro's on a stand rim?, i remember them being flipping tight going on my FSA wheels, but they went on, I don't want to find myself in the worse case scenario of being in the sticks and unable to get a tyre back on!
Failing that, I may try some Maxxi Ikons.
Thanks folks
Drew

Fitted a sugauro onto a crest without any drama's.
Also fitted an Ikon onto a Crest without any fuss.
Ikon seems to be a better tyre but thats not to say the Geax is rubbish.

Cheers Taylor,
I was going with the Saguaro as I've used them before and found them fast rolling and hardwearing whilst handling well.
I take it you prefer the Ikon, what gave it the edge over the Saguaro?
Thanks
Drew

Saguaro on a Rapid here (a Crest with eyelets). A good tyre until they wear down and the centre ridge becomes more prominent, then they turn into road tyre levels of grip. I'm thinking of putting one onto a Flow on the back of my Stooge to go with a Knard up front.

Non TNT saguaro on an Arch here, setup tubeless, no hassle.

Sounds promising, thanks all

Bit late now, but my Saguaro was a total nightmare to mount, and it now sits on the shelf in an virtually unused state.

How worn and would you sell it? I've got a compressor so tubeless mounting isn't an issue.Ian wrote:Bit late now, but my Saguaro was a total nightmare to mount, and it now sits on the shelf in an virtually unused state.

Never had issues getting Saguaros onto Stans rims myself...must have strong thumbs :)
Race tyre of choice for me!

Not very worn - think it only did one ride, though it was 100 miles...AlasdairMc wrote:How worn and would you sell it? Happy to sell it - I'll fish it out for you and drop you a line.
