A 'party'?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

I've just noticed that the forum now has over 700 members. While that's not a vast amount, considering how 'obscure' bikepacking is and that all 700 are genuine people, not spammers or bots, I don't think it's bad. Anyway, it has been decided that if the forum ever reaches 1000 members there will be a party, a proper one with music, ale and stuff ... I'm just hoping not everyone will want to come

On March 29 2014 Tom signed up as the 500th member so if people continue to sign up at the same rate "the party" will be in April 2016. How about April 1st  .

Not April 1st though. Due to some extraordinary planning, 2 of my children have birthdays that day so I won't be able to make it, unless I enrol them on the forum so they're invited too!

Cracking idea though - we would all have to wear name badges so people know who we all are.

Well I've asked 4 of my friends - and two of them are girls - not exactly going to address the sexual inequality around here, but it's a start!

If you want friends who'll just sign up for a party - I have loads of them! May not be the clientele you are looking for though?!

You could always use your emergency whistle that you carry and a fibre flare..... That's what I'll be raving with :-)

This is still very much on the cards but not definite just yet. At the moment the propsed plan would involve the following.

Venue: BB Towers, there's space for camping, a band and no neighbours to upset.
Food / Drink: The thinking is everyone 'buys' a ticket which pays for drink and something like a hog roast (veggie options too, obviously). This also stops folk having to carry their own beverages because .... you have to arrive by bike :-bd You choose how far you're going to ride, park 5 miles away or ride from home, the choice is yours.

In an effort to avoid the dreaded midge, Sep is likely to be the best month.

That's it so far, I'll keep you posted but feel free to chime in with ideas, etc.

I'd be happy to donate a couple of poly pins of ale (70 pints).
