Friday night is bivi night @ Clocaenog Forest

Post by JohnClimber »

EDITED - ride changed

Forget the first post but the start and finishing times are about the same.

As Barney can't make it we now have the option to get some more miles in 9sorry Barney) Adam, Jase and myself are now thinking of riding Clocaenog Forest near Ruthin with no evening pub stop, but there is the option of a breakfast at Llyn Brenig vistors center.

Expect 20 miles with a dark finish on the Friday after starting the ride about 6pm and Saturday mileage will be between 15 to 40 miles with plenty of bail out options (if you can read a map, which I advise you to bring)

Let me know if you are interested and I'll PM you the car parking area I'm thinking about as I don't want to put it up on the open forum.

Original post
Me, a mate and Barney (from on here) are planning an after work bivi ride around the Gisburn area this coming Friday evening.

The idea, meet up around 6pm ride around 5 to 10 mainly downhill miles to a pub for a meal, drink etc and hopefully bivi in the pub garden.
Saturday, ride back up to the Gisburn trails, dropping gear off at the car/s mid ride then carry on around the trails aiming to be home for early afternoon on Saturday.

There are plenty of bail out points but as for speed we'll be riding at Barny's speed who's just back from injury.

Trails around a trail centre and using the trail centre to link bits.

Where are the rules saying we can't bivi in a quiet country pubs garden? ;)

Thanks for all your help, but in the end after taking a close look at http://www.raintoday.co.uk/and yesterdays heavy rain band not going any higher than Preston my mate Adam and I headed north to the lake District and we rode half of a route that I knew and half that Adam knew.

Starting at Near Sawrey heading anti clockwise, stopping at Hawkshead for a pint and in the morning the Vistors Center for a water top up, here are the map and some shots plus a bit of product placement ;)

Crikey, you're not going to lose that orange bike in a line-up, are you?
