Titanium Disc Rotor Bolts

Post by Adventurer »

What is the thoughts on installing titanium disc rotor bolts.

Grease or thread lock?

I understand that’s its thread lock for steel bolts but should not use it for titanium as the bolts could seize. Correct?

When you have dissimilar metals, in this case aluminium in the hub and either steel of titanium in the rotor bolts, you get what's called galvanic (or bimetalic) corrosion when an electrolyte is introduced, this will be water. To prevent this you put a barrier between the surfaces, thread lock, grease etc. For rotor bolts I'd go with thread lock.

Loctite user here too.

Have been using ti bolts especially on rotors for as long as I can think and never ever had an issue with them. Only with Superstar bolts I had problems with softness and small hex heads. I think they offer a different type now.

New disc rotors came with Ali bolts... I've installed them without thinking twice :???:
