British bus shelters
Ok, so it’s written from an audax perspective but I think there’s some common ground here...

Brilliant! Love stuff like that. All in the great tradition of things like 'Pylon Of The Month' or 'Nice Cup Of Tea And A Sit Down' etc.
'no room for niceties when you're desperate'. Love that too.

Re: British bus shelters
Upon arriving back on the mainland from Arran during LeJog it was mid-afternoon, cold, windy, and raining.
The ferry shelter was out of the wind, dry, and had a bench.

In the end i thought "sod it" and set up camp in the shelter.
Was quite a funky place to stay, and the width was almost perfectly sized for a thermarest.
Even had my own personal toilet

What a lovely read... wonder if we're welcome to stay at his parents bungalow
Re: British bus shelters
I enjoyed reading that. There's a couple of ones local to me I've always thought would be good to sleep in but they're a bit close to the villages and I imagine they're hang-outs for the local kids in the evening.
I stopped in one during the day in the Dales to shelter from the rain once, a few minutes later a bus stopped outside, when the driver noticed my bike he rolled his eyes and drove off I assume in bad weather that happens at most stops with nice shelters

Re: British bus shelters
This clearly needs a companion guide to the public toilets of Europe, foreward by either JamesO or Scattamah following their findings on the ride to the start of the TNR this year. My new aquaintance Ernesto Pastor was quite taken with his companions when I rode with him on the 2nd and 3rd days. We're planning to meet up soon as he lives not far from me.
Re: British bus shelters
I'm sure Javi could contribute a few for that publication, having been following him on various social media on a whole summer of riding his first choice is often a toilet although some of the Scandinavian ones are more like log cabins with en-suite.pistonbroke wrote:This clearly needs a companion guide to the public toilets of Europe

Re: British bus shelters
James and Ernesto took the outdoor area where there was room to two. I scored the toilet. Clean and big enough to house Lois and myself and came with a working lock. I could add to its sister publication though - Montana Hiltons For Bikepackers. Excellent for hiding away from the elements and bears.
However, we digress. Great little write up about the audax hotels.

Anyone who's been to Shetland will know some bus stops are well appointed with comfy seats and particularly Bobbies bus shelter on Unst.
