Rohloff build. Bolt on or QR?
About to order a rohloff for my krampus ops.
What would folks on here recommend.
Quick release and tug nuts/hurdy gurdy.
Or a bolt on axle.
am I over thinking this/missed something?
Cheers
Paul.

I would have thought bolt through and QR adaptors, so it's compatible with more bikes and gives you more options

Good point!
Would I still need a tug nut for a bolt through?

I would have guess that you don't need it
I don't know if a bolt through will work with a tug nut though
I'm no expert on this though!

Re: Rohloff build. Bolt on or QR?
There isn't a bolt-thru Rohloff hub available. There is the Rohloff A12 which is compatible with *some* bolt-thru frames but this isn't available as an aftermarket product. It's only available as an OE product on some bikes <cough>.
Re: Rohloff build. Bolt on or QR?
not bolt through in terms of a bolt up axle that goes through the centre but rohloff DO or DID have a Threaded axle option when i bought mine.

Yes, there's always been a threaded axle available (and there still is). There's some more info on the A12 system here : https://www.rohloff.de/en/products/spee ... index.html
Re: Rohloff build. Bolt on or QR?
I've got a threaded Rohloff on my ECR. It's fine without a tuggnut, so long as you can tighten the nuts sufficiently with the spanner you carry on your ride. If you carry a small multitool, I suggest you get a drive-side tuggnut, unless you want to rub through your tyre casing.
Re: Rohloff build. Bolt on or QR?
QR and two tugnuts.
QR as you dont have to carry a spanner,
2 Tugnuts to keep it level in the frame,
QR also future proofs your rohloff for slidey / swingy droputs.
I would also advise a monkey bone brake mount and a OEM2 plate on the Krampus

Cheers Dave.
Gone for a QR and one tuggnut for now.
