Thanks. We are camping at Lobb Field so will probably walk into the village.

Sitting in a pub between Barnstaple amd Braunton...grey skies and periodic light showers. Spray jacket keeping things dry so far.

Did you manage to sort a lift?

There is a Tesco at the end of the Tarka Trail or a co-op in the middle of town for supplies.

Yup. 4am start and cycled to Kidderminster where Lump picked me up. Talked sh1te about bikepacking all the way down and all of a sudden we were in Barnstaple. :)

Weather is picking up. Looking at bike through the window and it's now dripping wet.

We've just arrived having driven up from Sennen today. It was wet wild and windy down there. It similar here too.

Richard - I can't see any updates on your spot page.

I believe you have experienced both ends of the weather spectrum...

DNF for me. Rear brake hit the bars at Minehead and the front one followed at Porlock. Tried to sort it with fresh pads, but then got awful cold shivers and felt lousy...

It's a tad wet and winter here today. Wasn't too bad this morning but the weather has really come in this afternoon.

I DNFed, was going great, rode right through the night, almost got to ilfracombe, but one steep hike-a-bike too many blew my left knee out. It's toast. Limped back on the main roads in 70mph winds. Pitied those left out there!

You'd love the route Stu, there's lots of walking with your bike.

Have bumped into a couple of people with tales to tell. Sounds weathery :|

I've also heard reports that Alan said it was tough going in places :o

That was tough today! I finished around 3.45, after 4 hours of sleep. Was so cold I couldn't unlock the van

Sorry to hear about the DNF mountainbaker. You were going well! Pretty glad I had the Chinese light excuse to go to bed. Passed a few people that had ridden straight through today -hope everyone got in safely!

Couldn't finish. Or rather wouldn't risk it, weather was so bad across the tops of the ridges that I was genuinely scared for my safety, and that of Duncan who was riding with me.

Shame, because the bit from Minehead to Braunton looked like it was going to be better than the first bit.

Yeah, Duncan had the same problem with his. God knows what Spot was up to.

I hope you've got gears Javi!
Quite tough that, even before the grim weather this afternoon. A great route if you don't mind a bit of climbing. I think the first back was home in just under 27 hours. I made it round in just over 31 hours but was getting seriously chilly with about 25km to go. Pretty dry trail conditions at the Minehead end but very sticky at the Braunton end on both days. Will definitely ride it again when it is warm and dry. Thanks to Ben for putting together a varied and challenging route.

Damn, if my knee had held out, I would have been coming in around 25 hours! Ah well, better to look after the knee.
