Thanks MB & Ian.

I did see your (Ian's) broken hub and thought WT!!! Understandable about the Divide MB.

I've Hope hubs/Mavic rims on my road bike and have done something like 15,000Km (at least) on them with no problem though I'll probably have to check the rims :| Like I say, the hardtail also has Hope wheels and done 2500Km. Neither set of hubs has had any maintenance - cue massive failure of them both in the next few weeks. I've XT brakes on the HT, not sure if they are any worse/better than the Hopes and they were £80 cheaper per end.

A hybrid polish down pied d'elephant sleeping bag. Down at the bottom, and pertex to keep the drafts out up top.

Weight 390gms.

For me, the down comes up to my ribs, but I've specifically bought it for Minipips as a full length bag.

Nice surprise today - a rather sizeable package of bike clothes from Polaris Bike Wear

Me and Polaris go back a long time (20 years), and I must confess to having put them to the back of mind as far as clothing is concerned. I was quite surprised to see the extent of their range, and though badged as "all mountain" gear, has a number of things in it for deployment on bikepacking trips - which is exactly what I've been engaged to do :-bd

I did use them previously on suspension forks, but the ones I had were really too small for the diameter of the lowers, so it left me feeling a little dubious about them. Are they any bigger now?

I managed to break the first one by overtightening it without realising, and although the clips didn't work loose themselves, I did lose a whole cage and bottle a few times on downhills (and yep, they were the locking ones)...

Arrived yesterday: Woolie Boolies, Wooleators, bear whistle, tickets to Australia for a funeral (not the best premise for a trip home).
Wifey in ABQ took delivery of my Montbell Plasma 1000. Squashes down to the size of a can of Guinness and saves me 300g over the Antifreeze jacket.

Bottlecages to forks....

I've witnessed ductaped bottle caged fall off before. The fell completely off which was probably quite lucky!!

zip ties to take the strain and ductape to keep the location?

If all else fails, get four biggish hose clamps, two for each fork leg, but make sure to wrap the fork in a bit of old inner tube to protect it first They aren't pretty, but they make a very solid platform and won't budge.

I've been using these for a couple of years now without any problems :

I also use some inner tube on the fork to improve the grip.

My Longitude comes with every mount you could never need apart from a front mudguard on the underside of the downtube.

Though about a couple of rivnuts but not sure if this is a terrible idea or not.

My Wildcat seat harness (tiger) just arrived. If you add that to the handlebar harness (mountain lion) I won in the raffle I've basically got another setup good to go. :-bd

Not if he sticks a bolt in the whole, an 'o' ring and washer wouldn't hurt though
