I can't work out how many days it is now but...

Who's keen for a December bivy? Maybe meet at the ladybower inn again?? Plenty to go at round there.

I've been working on something Calderdale based for a bit of a change

Chaps, I'd be very keen on Calderdale. Especially the top end. My family are all from there, I've walked all over, but I've very little experience of riding (except hebden B). Studly pike bivy?

Huge amount of good riding and with the high population of bikers a lot of the pubs are friendly.

In true Northern style the plan will be something like:

Meet at pub for a cheeky half while everyone arrives
3-4 hours of riding at a social pace
Another pub for a few beers, warming by the fire and hopefully something to eat
1-2 hours of riding to the bivi spot
3-4 hours of riding the following morning back home

6/7 Dec (same as our Welsh & Scottish brothers)

Its a social event so everyones welcome. No one will be left behind and remember mines a pint

(Being in Calderdale there will be some climbing, Cheeky trails and more than likely some swearing)

Think me and the misses would be up for this. We're newbies so will have to educate us in the art of drink, ride, drink, eat, ride, sleep, ride.

We've bivvy'd before and I'm entered to on the bb200 so hopefully we won't be too far behind.

Right then, details below:

Meeting Point
The Stubbing Wharf, HX7 6LU
Sat 6th December
Arrive from Noon, for a 1pm start. Plenty of time for a cheeky half.
Please dont park in the carpark, but theres plenty of cheeky parking nearby (ask if unsure) or pop up on the train (5 min ride away)

Riding
30k all weather route to the Old Silent Inn, Stanbury for some food. I may need numbers at some point.
Generally Moorland crossings. Expect a reasonable amount of climbing and one shortish push.

Then its about 5k to the bivi spot

30k ride back in the morning
More Moorland, Singletrack above Todmorden (fingers crossed for a hard frost) and a pootle down the canal back to Hebden.

Kit
Remember its December so bring appropriate kit
You'll also need some lights for the section to the bivi spot. (If you're short of a pair i'm sure someone can lend you a set)


Its a social event, so everyone is welcome and the pace will be set to gentle.

Is there likely to be a gpx for the route released beforehand? As always, ill be keen to try and ride some of this before signing up to the ride, wouldnt want to hold you all back!
