Starting to realise Chew is right about this. Loaded up my bike for the first time last night with the kit I 'need'. It was so heavy and slow. I'd loaded onto my Full Suss as I had in my mind it would be a comfy ride. I'm now contemplating my rigid singlespeed just for the sheer weight saving.Kit. If its not on the mandatory list leave it at home. Light and fast. If its going to be uncomfortable to stop you’re more likely to keep riding.
To save weight we have agreed to ditch our lightweight tent for a bivvy bag each. We are gearing up to keep riding and stopping only if totally necessary. Good idea?

It could beKBRPro wrote:To save weight we have agreed to ditch our lightweight tent for a bivvy bag each. We are gearing up to keep riding and stopping only if totally necessary. Good idea?
I'd get out and have a practice first
The thing to bear in mind is the weather in October could be anything. Clear skies and hard frosts, heavy rain, mild and autumnal. Just a bivi would need a more careful selection of where to stop.
Its easy to think that you're not going to stop sat here in summer, but after 12+ hours of riding you may think something different
Re: BB 200 Entries Closed.
A sheet exhaustion stop is a different type of stop too ;-)
Re: BB 200 Entries Closed.
Not a bad plan, BUT... Make sure you have the kit to survive a night in whatever the weather may be, whilst in a presumably exhausted state or with a mechanical etc.Chew wrote: Kit. My first go at the BB I stopped on top of a hill, exposed to the cold (in hindsight I could have gotten down). This was due to a light failure so I couldn't safely carry on. It was uncomfortable, but not dangerous.
I know you have the experience to make these decisions for yourself chew, but just saying, thats all

Re: BB 200 Entries Closed.
Just booked my train back to the UK!!!!!
Unless there's an injury it's looking like I'm actually going to make it this year.
There's no bloody way (with the way my 'training' is going) that I'm going to be anywhere near the 24 hour mark but I'll give it my best shot.
Can't wait!

All our training has come to a grinding Holt on Thursday by some little scrots nicking all 6 of our bikes We will be there more determined than ever as we can't ever let these vermin win.
