Annual Bear Bones Bikepacking video awards ... enter now

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

For all budding film makers, this year we'll be holding the first Bear Bones bikepacking video awards.

A simple format as follows:

Submit your film at the start of November ... you'll find out where nearer the time.
Voting will take place on the forum.
Awards for, best direction/production, best soundtrack, best 'riding' footage and best overall.

See, simple.

Try and keep submissions to a maximum of 10 minutes, ta.

So, get your camera out, remember to take it with you and get filming ... We're looking forward to seeing the end results.
May the bridges you burn light your way

IN!

Really looking forward to seeing all of the entries as nothing makes me want to get out more than great movies of other people doing what I want to be doing.

Up to you ... but as Chew says, unpublished would give you the element of surprise.

Two quick things:

1. Does the film have to be self-filmed? (mine will be and i ask as they're a very different thing to a 'proper' filmed movie).

2. I've got 'the' piece of music lined up and anyone who uses it in a movie between now and then will be in big trouble!

Tis weird how excited I am about this project.

Got my route and everything - I just need the snow to bugger off!

No, if you want to enlist the help of another rider to film you ride past or you film them, that's fine. You're right that the two things are / can be very different but hopefully the less stipulations the more creative people will get and the greater the diversity of films.

Remember that there's a good few months between now and Nov'. Your film doesn't have to be shot on one ride or in the same month, it could be a montage of the whole year if you liked.

So that means some pre-historic footage I have can be included? i.e. I have some random bike footage from a few years back that I feel like popping in, but I do kinda think it's cheating using footage not take within the timeframe of the competition. (I have no idea if I'll be able to make time to do this yet, but I'll at least consider it :geek: ).

If you already have some useful footage then there's no reason not to include it if you think it'll improve the end result.

Like I say, the less restrictions in place the more creative people can be, which can only be a good thing.

Just to add another question then, does the film have to be bikepacking orientated or a mtb short film?

Boring video - but you get the picture. Actually it's fairly easy to do (now I spent some time researching it when I should have been writing about research paradigms)...might get round to it if I find some spare time but got other things going on at the moment which are planned to still be going on in November...but hey you never know I might manage it :???:
