What mudguard for my Scandal...?
I'd forgotten the joys of clods of mud hitting you in the face. I'm pretty sure I'd quite like it if clods of sheep poor show didn't hit my face on the WRT, so...
I was thinking RRP Proguards front and back, but I'm worried about space. This SiD SL doesn't strike me as a fork that's made for a mudguard, so if the collective brain thinks that things like the Proguards, wont fit, am I looking at one of those small thin plastic thingies and a whacking big gut fender?
Here's the front, it's currently got a 2.35" tyre on:
Here's the back, it's got a 2.25" on:

SKS do a full rear that will fit.
For the front you are probably limited to the flexy plastic ones that you cable tie on and being pebble dashed

Rear mudhugger
Front no idea as still using a crud catcher ( but laufs don't easily work with a fork mounted guard?

Re: What mudguard for my Scandal...?
Mudhugger's should work front and rear to keep the worst off. Front comes with a longer add on bit, and i found it works pretty well, will do more so with a crud catcher on the downtube to fill the remaining gap left. Should be fine with tight clearance, they are thin and once secured don't move.
EDIT - also good for keeping stanchions clear of cr@p

Re: What mudguard for my Scandal...?
New Mudhuggers are better as the rear now has an extension bit to the seat tube and the front ones have been tweaked specifically for tight clearance fork crowns

Re: What mudguard for my Scandal...?
There's some front mudguards that mount only to the fork lowers rather than the bridge like the Topeka defender:

The crud XL might also work

Mudhuggers for me, definitely the most robust option.

Not developing GI issues from flying animal poop, not wearing out your nice riding clothes because they've been covered in a highly abrasive paste... £££ priceless?
Re: What mudguard for my Scandal...?
I don't think you have the clearance to run a front proguard or mudhugger as they are fairly rigid and won't conform to the shape of your fork brace. Height wise it's probably ok, looks pretty tight on width though.
Re: What mudguard for my Scandal...?
The sks rear I have is lots better than the rear mudhugger, needs p clips but worth the effort: velo 65 model
