Open access land you're not "allowed" to access

Post by TheBrownDog »

This popped up on YooToob and forgive me if it's been done, but I found it hugely interesting to learn more about the concept of open access, and that that are zillions of little and not so little islands of open access land set in private property that have no public right of way to get to them. So to do so, you seem to have to trespass. Not in Scotland of course .... mumble grumble right to roam gumble mumble not here in Englandshire.

I'm now set on finding one round mine and sleeping on it.

There are 2 I know of on The Island that you can go past the boundary/outside of but there are no visible gates/styles/openings to be able to get into them without having to climb over a fence/through a hedge.

For example, there is no way into this one unless you climb over the gate and use the access track to the Radio Mast and of course then appear on their cctv.

Well Ive given up trying to find anything near me. Being completely colour blind (I only see shades of grey) makes finding orange coloured bits of woods a bit challenging.

Thanks for posting this BrownDog, I've got an open access wood a couple of miles up the road from me and never realised. It's got a bridleway running along one side that I've ridden once before so easy access as well.

Might set aside a couple of hours tomorrow for some exploring... :-bd

I don't think anything sums up the English/Welsh access laws better than open access land you can't get to.
