Re: North York Moors
I think if I look hard enough I can see our old house!
Definitely not a place to ride after rain as the moors get really gloopy. Great when it's dry or frozen though.

Re: North York Moors
Years ago I put my wife off mountain biking forever by taking her on a ride on the NYM (I grew up near Whitby). Her bike clogged with sticky mud to the extent that the wheels jammed solid and she ended up throwing the bike at me and storming off to walk home. I'd agree that picking dry conditions is a good idea.
Re: North York Moors
My take on that story is to pick a better wife
Re: North York Moors
i mentioned on the FB link that this would be a great summer ride. winter on the NYM is grim.

Re: North York Moors
Good stuff. Intend to spend more time in the NYM having only had positive experiences there (in summer admittedly - wet/winter comments noted). Thanks for putting this out there.
Re: North York Moors
Yeh I'm from not far from Castleton. The Moors are ace, but impossible in places when wet wiy the clay and many routes I used to use years ago have been trashed by off road motorbikes and 4x4s

Thanks Phil. I had no idea when they'd be publishing it when I sent the pics the other day. i rode it in the middle of October and while most of it was fine there were a few bits that were boggy and I felt a bit bad riding on.fatbikephil wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 11:27 pm Finally read the whole thing, well done Rob!

Re: North York Moors
I really enjoyed the piece. It’s a long way from me but made me want to visit and do the ride. Great photos and description. Thanks.
