Fat grips
I personally favour a little more girth in the grip. Have been looking for chunkier options and these popped up in my news feed today. Thought a few others might be interested too:

Nukeproof Neutron Knurled Lock On 31mm (bit skinny but they are purple so )
ESI extra chunky 34mm (girthy but find them a bit slippy in the wet)
Got some others on my radar:

Re: Fat grips
I've got the ESI extra chunky on a the full suss. Exactly the same as you - comfy but not the grippiest in the wet. I solve this by not riding that bike in the rain.

Re: Fat grips
I've picked up a few pairs of ODI Longnecks in some 'rad' colours for a bit more cushioning. Quite enjoying them thus far (also attempting to re-live my BMXing yoof)

Re: Fat grips
Another ESI Extra Chunky user (knee-jerk purchase after the first ride on my rigid MTB... a MTB marathon in the Tweed Valley ). Kinda know what you mean about grip in the wet, but I find it much less of problem with gloves, and I'm almost always wearing some sort of glove, particularly if it's raining.

Nice one. Just bought a pair of the 55mm ones. Will report back, hopefully not from A&E.

How did you get on with these? Were the 55mm ones as large as billed? In Reverse wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 9:07 pmNice one. Just bought a pair of the 55mm ones. Will report back, hopefully not from A&E.

Re: Fat grips
Haven't put them on bars yet, but the 55s are HUGE.
45s look the business though. Really good surface texture too. Miles better than ESI.

Re: Fat grips
Andy, have you fitted these yet? My ESI's are shot and need replacing. Thoughts? I take it you didn't use the 55's...In Reverse wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 4:25 pm Haven't put them on bars yet, but the 55s are HUGE.

Re: Fat grips
I haven't yet Andy. I'm out on the full sus on Friday so I'll chuck them on that and report back with photos and a detailed analysis.

Re: Fat grips
Interim report:
the 55s really are massive. They're actually so big that they stop the shifter from moving:
I asked the bloke behind them about this and he's recommended trimming the grip. I might put them on my singlespeed to negate this issue.
The 45s have very much piqued my interest though. They feel great and are pretty much a perfect fit for my hands.
They have a much more "cushioned" feel than the ESI super chunky which makes me think they may be very well suited to longer rides for people like me who suffer from hand-numbness. And as perviously mentioned the surface texture is a big step up in grippiness.
Still haven't actually used them on a ride. Stay tuned for further reports.
