Stuff you've found when out.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Over the last 6 weeks I've found the following items in some very unlikely places;

Packet of dry roasted nuts, unopened, so they came in handy. Found these on open moorland, no path or track for at least a mile.

Tin of sardines, again unopened. You could only reach this spot with a pretty dodgy scramble up the rock face.

Cannon CoolPix camera ... no 'iffy' pictures though. Now awaiting Trail mag to publish the details in their lost/found section.

Pair of Ray Bans ... make me look quite camp, so ideal for bivvying ;)

1M spirit level, god knows what someone was doing with that.

Anyone else found anything good while out?

No Lynx-can meths stoves though Stuart? You'd have to be an idiot to loose one of those after the 1st breakfast of a 2 night bivvy event :?

I occasionally come across tent pegs, which just when you think you have found a special remote secret camping spot can be a dissapointment!

I can on two occasions quite easily remember finding £20 notes. One in Edinburgh, one York. Happy days.

I regularly find golf balls in the middle of forests. Never a golf course to be seen anywhere nearby of course.

Nikon SLR on Yewbarrow - returned to owner via Trail Mag (it does work Stu!)
11mm climbing rope - unkown history so never used for climbing/abbing.
Loads of climbing gear (including entire belays consisting of nuts and Friends).
An empty rucksac - I can only assume they carried everything home in their pockets.
Slovenian beer towel.
Tons of human excrement in the Dome de Gouter hut on Mont Blanc - we left that in situ ;)

Don't spend too long Stuart, it has been superseded by the new chimney stove :D Which I might add worked brilliantly last night, my 3yr old was chuffed to have his morning milk warmed by such excellence.

It's a long story, but not yet. (Phone broken and in for repair, main camera has photos of our Lass' practice wedding hair-do on the memory card so I'm banned from looking at it until she has had 5 to download them!!).

I'll do a how-to thread once I can sort it as it really is the best style stove for Caldera type set-ups.

Not suprisingly I haven't given any thought to practicing my hair do for the big day, nor would I consider taking any photos of it :!:
