Trekkertent
Good Afternoon All
Anybody know anything about Trekkertent, are they still trading? I'm not getting a response to messages & the voice mailbox is full...
I'm in the market for either a cuben fibre tarp 3 x 3m approx. or something like the stealth 1.5 as a fly only tarp tent in cuben fibre ideally.
At the other end of the budget is this 3F jobby, anybody got one of these? The seller claims that the fly only is 350g which seems light for 15d silnylon.

Re: Trekkertent
I was in touch with Marc a couple of weeks ago by email. Last reply from him was 24th April.

He also tends to go away 'testing' on a fairly regular basis, as Dave suggests just be patient, it'll be worth the wait.
If you can't wait - a Gatewood cape is less than 300g.

Re: Trekkertent
I have a Stealth 1 that I bought a couple of years ago. During the purchase process I became seriously concerned that I was going to be ripped off and not get my tent having paid up front for it. Marc was really helpful when I initially made inquiries about the Stealth but once I'd done the deal it all went quiet and I started to fear the worst. In actual fact he was just run off his feet with orders and didn't have time to deal with all his correspondence. I did eventually get my tent and it is good but as a small operation Trekkertent is quite prone to random communication problems that can test the nerves and patience.

Thanks for the replies, I'd like to order from Trekkertent but by the sound of it it'll be too frustrating.
I'll keep trying him and see if we can have a discussion.

Patience. It's a virtue. Sadly missing in many these days.

Re: Trekkertent
I ordered a cuben fibre tarp on 2nd March last year, it was shipped on 21st April.

Re: Trekkertent
Marc told me that one of the most time consuming jobs (and one that slows him down a lot) is seam sealing the silnylon tarps and tents. My tent was ordered and delivered during the winter months and he said that the seam sealant takes longer to cure in colder, damper conditions which meant he ended up with a backlog of shelters that needed sealing. He doesn't like to pack them up until the seam sealer has completely gone off (in case the sealant sticks the fabric together when the shelter gets folded up). My issue (if I had one) with Trekkertent was communication rather than anything relating to the product itself (which is good).
Here's my Stealth 1 in a nice setting during a packrafting trip.

But when you want to spend your money on something good service helps, and good service usually relies on good comms

I had an email from Marc today. My new tarp should be with me next week.

Can pretty much echo everything said above. Very similar experience to Jurassic. And like others, the Stealth I have is brilliant. Probably the stand out bit of kit when I did the HT.

Ben makes a good point. Whilst I kinda agree with Gregg in some respects, it's also often a convenient excuse for some sub-standard performance (not just small operators).benp1 wrote:That's true in many casesGregMay wrote:Patience. It's a virtue. Sadly missing in many these days.
