Bikepacking shoes are now a market niche!

Not sure what others think, but these remind me of some of the earliest MTB-specific offerings pre-SPD (i.e. mid 80's).
We seem to have come full circle.

Look good with a nice retro cheesecloth shirt I reckon.
They're a bit confused about what BP's all about: https://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/news/arti ... ria-49310/ - "Are weird bikes, beards and suffering a compulsory part of bikepacking?". Yes of course they are (see every other BBB "philosophy" thread since time immemorial). Lovely:
"innate suffering needed to go bikepacking"
"foraging for grubs or doing whatever proper bikepackers are supposed to do"
Oh dear, it was all going so well, then: "rad riding". Sigh.
'Scuse me, just off for a quick S240.......

They definitely seem to have aimed that at the plaid shirt, mug-dangling, front rack sporting, craft beer drinking part of our brethren...
Re: Bikepacking shoes are now a market niche!
I was expecting something like the old pony SPD boots, but those are significantly shittier!

Hey, hey, hey!
Be reasonable, please can we have some perspective and sanity in this thread???
It's unreasonable to lump the appreciation of proper beer in with the feckless goons who'll fall for this bikepacking shoe nonsense
'bikepacking shoes' - heeeeelarious!!!
As you were.....

Eh?
The Shimano XM9 and 7 are bikepacking shoes / boots - that's a town bike shoe....
Once again Bike radar loose the plot. (Although I wouldn't put it past them to be specifically writing that to wind this forum up )

I'm still waiting for Nike to bring back the Poobah.

They’re well ventilated at least
Re: Bikepacking shoes are now a market niche!
I like that there's a uniquely large pedal-trap area, something we ought to see more of in the other brands. I'm sure it'll catch on.

In my experience, DZR get even more well ventilated when the sole splits.PaulB2 wrote:They’re well ventilated at least

Absolutely!! I like a nice craft IPA, full of hoppy goodness before you ask I don’t have a beard or ride a fat bike. Hopefully I’m safe, I do have a drop bar bike, however it’s a Fargo so very far from being a trendy gravel bike.gairym wrote:Hey, hey, hey!
