Show of hands: WRT Gravel or MTB option?

Post by NorwayCalling »

Quick show of hands:

Who is going in the WRT on a gravel bike (gravel option) or on the their MTB ("Standard" option)?

Normally its no issue in taking "the bikepacking bike" but this year with the two options for grid references...I am unable to make my mind up as to which option to take (and still have not made my route!).

So who doing what... just curious.

Me.... Gravel most likely (due to flying in from Norway to attend and limited bike selection options)

Gravel. :-bd Turns out it goes to a couple of places I've never been so I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like. Haven't even looked at the other set of GRs.

Probably MTB. Gravel would mean single speed

MTB because I'm doing the LHC and it's a FS bike because that's what I've got. I'm intrigued by what routes people take for the gravel option though since it'd be nice to come back at some point on the gravel bike.

I don't even know which car I will get fixed this weekend, let along what bike, or even looked at a map :|

I'll make it up as I go along

Combination of both sets of grid refs in my preliminary route (which only guarantees the direction I leave BB Towers after which time it is highly likely to vary). :???:
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Not even looked at the gravel grid refs due to the abuse I got on the winter event.

I've also just realised I'll need a skinny tyre perverts weigh in sub section.

MTB here - newly built and won't have had a proper ride before the Saturday morning.

Same here - direction of travel is the Rhug Organic farm shop for a massive burger around Sunday lunchtime then back a different (ish route).

Legs and lungs in a right state so I am avoiding this mularkey as much as possible. :geek:

MTB but hopefully avoiding any type 2 fun.
Although FFS hill feels like type 2 fun at times.

MTB. Considered gravel but riding partner favoured MTB as luggage fits better which is fair enough.

Myself & Darbeze will be on the MTB's,

We've got a nice loop planned, hopefully relaxed & in the spirit of the event.

Loved the idea of the gravel bike GR's but getting lost on wild untamed bridleways seems more appropriate & can always head back up to Wales for a different weekend later in the Summer.

Whatever you ride, wherever you go, it will be a weekend of great adventure.

Cheers Rob
