Tried downloading a small track to my 500 last night from my phone just to navigate my way across a strange town....
Used Astro as I do with my Oregon and although I put it in the new folders and courses and just about every other folder it doesn't show on the device despite the fact it shows as being on the device when connected to the phone. I even exported it direct from dropbox and recieved confirmation it had been exported and its still not on the device
Just to make sure I put it on the Oregon without issue.
What am I doing wrong?

What format was the file? From memory it needs to be a tcx file. I don't think the 500 can read gpx files.

Ah, that could be it. I sent a .gpx
Do I convert it? And how?
Thanks

Re: Download to Garmin 500
needs to be a TCX and i suggest keeping it as small a file as possible .... i tried a 200km route once , the turn by turn function worked really well HOWEVER i thought id bricked the device it took taht long to turn on !

You can convert it in bikehike Andy.

I've had my edge 500 for 6 years now. My findings for this thus far are:
Don't make the course too long.
.crs files are the best type.
