Packing paralysis.
First multi-day trip out in a while on Wednesday and I can’t seem to sort my sub standard out to the point I’m now doing unrelated stuff.
Anyone else suffer from this?

Re: Packing paralysis.
Step 1 - acquire large plastic tub and store bikepacking stuff in it.
Step 2 - get the hump with living and decide on your multi-day affair
Step 3 - tip aforementioned tub upside down on floor
Step 4 - pack it onto bike as stepping over it will just piss you off
If your sh!t is spread across floor already and you're stepping over it, you probably don't want to go.

Toilet paper George! If six weeks in India (I know, I know, it's a different country) taught me one thing, then toilet paper is a fecker to find! Andrex do some moist stuff now, like wet wipes but can be flushed away. Be worth taking a pack

Bikepacker - yesJustchris wrote:Just one tub?
Tourer - about several hundred will do
Being honest, a lot of tubs are 40-50litres that you buy in shops, so one should suffice (bar harness is ~15L, saddle bag is ~8L and frame bag is ~3L, totalling 26L???)
Re: Packing paralysis.
You're overthinking it. Just pack some sh*t into some bags, strap them to your bike and accept that the weather looks like utter toilet and you're going to basically die of exposure.
Jeez.
Jeez.
Re: Packing paralysis.
That's a brilliant summary, CB. Accept it's going to be terrible and when death-by-weather doesn't occur, laugh at the pre-trip insanity.

Only for my dazzling wit.
Re: Packing paralysis.
I’ll pack earplugs.
Re: Packing paralysis.
Framebag or backpack? I'm keeping the bar roll and seat pack (the latter may suck dead donkey d*ck, but it keeps my backside dry).
Re: Packing paralysis.
If some HAB and carrying is involved, rucksack, framebag, smaller bar bag and smaller seat bag.Catbaiter wrote:Framebag or backpack? I'm keeping the bar roll and seat pack (the latter may suck dead donkey d*ck, but it keeps my backside dry).
If then terrain is easy less on the back, more on the bike.
Anticipate how you may feel after the trip.
Anticipate how you may feel not going.
Should be motivation enough.

I'm clearly a total novice, because much of that went totally over my head. But I did enjoy reading the last bit to myself in a Yoda voice.
I think so got the jist though; lots of HAB = backpack. Not HAB = framebag.

I've got a dose right now. I should be prepping a camera housing for a 4am departure to Dieppe (with a stop halfway to dunk said camera, housing and self in the briny) but instead I'm dithering.
At least it's all in a plastic tub already.
