Diamondback Haanjo - clearance for 700 x 45 and 650 x 2.1, triple up front, 34t cassette, bar-end shifters and plenty of bosses 'n mounts. Can't see any sign of them on these shores yet. Review: http://bicycletimesmag.com/review-diamo ... xp-carbon/

It is. The bloke who wrote the review that I linked to, thinks so too.

Look nice and a good review, I didn't know there's a new thru axle standard for road bikes.

That'd be perfect for a new 'road' bike if it was an alloy frame (and therefore about 1/2 to 2/3 the price)

I believe this is the top end model, I imagine they do an alloy version ... could be wrong mind.

Alas, this looks like the only version they do with 650b wheels though they do several alloy versions with 700c rims / 40mm tyres.

What's the deal with bar-end shifters - is there any advantage over STIs?

Love the look of this special build for the Trans-Am - some great innovation. Pity the wait list for his custom bikes is soooo long; I'm just too impatient to even consider such a wait.

Bar end shifters???

Why not fully retro and put them on the downtube like my old Rayleigh pursuit.

Good spec on that. Get the bars set up right so you use the drops most of the time and I'd go as far as saying I perfer bar end shifters over STIs now. I like the feel of a brake lever that's only doing braking also.

Agree. Also works quite well after 14 days when you can't use SRAM or Shimano levers to shift. I suspect I may have them back on the Cutty for next years run down the TDR.

I've always been a bit weirded out by the idea of bar end shifters. When you're climbing steep terrain/riding technical stuff are they not a PITA?

You get used to them very quickly, I much prefer them to sti ... but I like 'push button' technology too, that really is superb on technical climbs
