How to neutralise shoe stink

Post by Dave Barter »

I'm sat at Bristol airport waiting for lift home after a brilliant nine days in Spain. Feet got wet a few times and also bloody hot. So consequently my MT71 shoes are minging...really bad, so bad I might need to go and sit somewhere else from myself.

Is there anything anyone has done to mitigate this? A whole can of deodorant in the hotel made no impact and I'm worried Helen is going to make me go on the roof rack.

I have soaked my shimano shoes a couple of times in water and half a lid of that blue dettol meant to go in the washing machine with minging stuff.

Left them for a few hours, then rinsed and drip dried. Seemed to do the job.

I pity the poor bastards that were subjected to my shoes today on the flights back. Even fresh socks couldn't mask the stench of Eau de Bikepackeur.

Spayed mine with 'Paco Rabann' at the airport courtesy of the duty free samples. Lasted 30 minutes....

Bamboo (I know, I know) socks, zinc oxide foot powder, carbon impregnated insoles. And don't eat garlic unless you're on hols in Transylvania. Did all that on WRT - same boots/socks for 5 days - and as mentioned elsewhere Mrs Perrin said I smelled nicer when I got home than when I left. Failing that, fall over in a Welsh bog then smelly feet will be the least of your odour problems.
