Thanks for the Exposure tip I got a very nice Toro.

If like me you like the look of a hooded baselayer/ninja costume e.g. the £90 montane allez then lidl have them in today at £4. Lidl don't go smaller than men's medium by the way.

2016 Genesis bikes have 30% off according to the thing that popped up in my Farcebook.

Might have accidentally just bought another bike, anyone have any tips on how to get it past the Mrs?

Is the same colour as an existing bike? If not, then no... :-)

Easy trick for this one. Borrow a friend's bike, preferably the commuting beater/pub bike. Nip around a few of the local beauty spots with this bike and get said friend to take a couple of snaps. While Mrs Fantastic is out at work, sneak the beater into the bike room. When the new one arrives, counter any complaining about another bike with an offer to get rid of an old one. You then "sell" your old beater to your friend from whom you borrowed it. Any suspicions of fraud or mischievy can be headed off as you produce a facebook album that clearly shows you've ridden the bike loads while out with your friend.

I put a pair of their kevlar pads in on the rear of my bike (Shimano XT brakes) recently. They're utter sh*te. Took forever to bed in, and even after all that work they still don't provide any sort of bite. Will try them in semi-metallic, and if they're not good, go back to the (insanely expensive) Shimano pads

Back when I was racing XC, I swapped brake pads depending on conditions. Kevlars were ace - but you had to bed them in properly (which I found you could only really do with the loading from the front brake, so had to bed in a set on the front, then put them in the back and get another set bedded in on the front).

I used kevlars when it was dry and dusty - you could make use of them properly then.

When it was wet, I'd swap to sintered.

These days, I generally run sintered.

That was my experience if it helps at all. Image

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they would bed in a lot quicker on the front.
