Watch
Any recommendations on a watch that I can splurge my birthday money on?
I am fed up of the smartwatch as it only lasts a few days and is rude. Was thinking G-shock but maybe a little too bulky.
Must be rugged have hands and an alarm and last for eons

Re: Watch
I sometimes use my accurist sports watch, waterproof, alarms and the best bit...analogue!
Mines lasted 3 years before it lost timing but took seconds to correct.
Cant remember the model but I've got 3 accurist watches and all superb quality for the price. Though you wont catch me wearing my dress watch camping
Mostly just use my glucose monitor for Time and alarms if I'm honest, but obviously that's for diabetics.

Re: Watch
Expensive g-shocks with extensive lists of features are bulky, especially the solar powered ones. Cheaper ones less bulky.
Re: Watch
I've got a Suunto, i'm a little underwhelmed by the quality as one of the buttons stopped working & it eats batteries..
I am a serial destroyer of watches though & don't bother wearing one anymore...

Re: Watch
Had one of those g shock watch things, compass, altimeter etc. Worked great until it broke by guess what, a shock going through it Nice bit of kit until it broke!
Re: Watch
I moved the other way - out of a Swatch Skin with hands and into a Suunto Quest. 40 grams, loud alarm, big numbers for easy reading at a glance. I don't bother with the PODs.

I've got a g shock mud man.
It's bulky and ugly as anything but have had it several years now, rarely take it off and it works perfectly.

Re: Watch
Amazed at how little estate on those Casio watches is given to viewing the actual time.

Re: Watch
Sorry no help here as I'm a serial watch destroyer so just buy super cheap waterproof basic casios. Can't see the point in fancy watches, well for me anyway!

Re: Watch
The only watch I own is one of these ... maybe not that practical for everyday use though.

Re: Watch
My outdoorsy watch is a Traser - it's an excellent outdoors watch as the tritium glows so well that seeing the time at night is a doddle (i.e. inside your bivy)
But since getting an Apple Watch I don't wear any of my others watches, and I have a fair few (incl some nices ones). I only wear the Traser if I'm going somewhere that I might bin it - don't want to get the Apple Watch damaged

That's superb Bob, any idea where to buy such an item?
EDIT: Don't worry, I'm sorted and a whole new world awaits

Re: Watch
Yes it's not cheap that one Dave but the General Service ones are a lot cheaper, I had one for my 40th a few year's ago but they've nearly doubled in price since then! I could sell mine today and get more than a paid for it, they are bit of a collector's watch.Dave Barter wrote:I was so hopeful until I saw the zeros on the pricecycleofaddiction wrote:http://www.cwcwatch.com/products/cwc-19 ... hronograph

It's rubbish. No alarm. Needs a magnifying glass, thin bit of string and hammerBearbonesnorm wrote:That's superb Bob, any idea where to buy such an item?
