Re: Giant Revolt

I own one. The revolt 1. Use it for commuting. Had a chain-stay crack on me and the carbon seat post snap in half at separate occasions. Though Giant replaced both under warranty. Not the best spec. I think I got it for £700 new (on sale). I've replaced a few parts over the probably 2 years I've had...

Re: Vodafone V Bag, cheaper tracking device?

If you need a mobile signal then you can also use one of the many free options; Google maps tracking; Strava beacon if you have premium; Garmin liveTrack if you use a Garmin and Bluetooth enabled phone. There's probably quite a few free apps out there too.

Re: Anybody been ill after bikepacking

All this talk of getting ill has made me think. What sort of water filtration should we consider other than boiling Boiling isn't really filtering. You can use one or more of -Water filter -Boiling -Chlorine tablets -Selecting a good source for your water It's also worth noting it's probably not a ...

Re: Anybody been ill after bikepacking

I used a combination of single water bottle and camelback this weekend. I found it much easier to manage water levels knowing I had a reserve. Yes water bottle was pretty disgusting, I did unscrew to drink to avoid the sheep sh!+ I've used a bite valve cover on the camelbak for years. Really appreci...

Anybody been ill after bikepacking

Anybody been ill after bikepacking? Wish you'd filtered/sterilised that water? I've come down with a case of gastroenteritis after the café racer - And this is the only time bikepacking I've not filled up at a natural water source, and hence filtered my water. So this got me thinking. What's your ex...

Re: Cafe Racer GR are GO.

As you say, a lot of the fun of this game is fiddling about with and honing your gear - I just sadly got a bit obsessed  I'm of the same mind Reg. It's obviously a very broard church but personally, I enjoy the challenge of trying to reduce what I carry while still carrying enough to remain f...

Are there any groups open to another member? I've had software problems trying to plan a route. It doesn't look like I'll have one ready in time.

I'm booked in at the Star Inn on Friday night.

I'll be there. Hope to tag along with someone / a group too. Will probably head up on Friday night after work. I'll see if there's any room at the inn - it seems that's the pace to be pre-ride.

GRs look good, quite a few places I haven't yet been.

Re: Entries open on the... some time in November.

Anyone ever used two mats? I have an inflatable with no insulation but with lots of cutouts to let the bag loft. This will still be cold in Jan so am going to get a self inflating mat of some sort too. Considering a lightweight one (maybe alpkit airo 120?) and maybe combining with the inflatable. D...

Re: Exposure Support Cell

Depends on the size of your support cell. Mine is 2 or 3 times the diameter of a joystick which wouldn't fit. I usually run it from my backpack.
